Manstein's revenge

Do you know how hard it is to manage a group-build? Or three?

YES!!!  Bang Head

Anyway, I did start decaling last night. Started with the long wing-walk stripes. They seemed almost, well, powdery, and I had 2 break up. Not disasterous, I was able to place them fine & they look like they are snuggling down with a coat of Microsol. Then started with some of the other smaller decals, which seem to have a little more adhesive to get cleaned up, but are going down fine. If Photobucket was cooperating this morning, I'd have a couple pics for you.

~EDIT!~ Photobucket is back online.

After my "family shuttle service" wrapped up for the evening I had a chance to sit down & get some more decaling done. Snapped a few quick pics on the way out this morning...

Yeah, not so worried about the faded look - it is supposed to be low-viz right. I'm kinda confused though that some are faded, but some are full-on black. Ahh well, this is definitely an oob build, I'll have to trust Italeri has gotten it right.

Damn near circle filed my Intruder this afternoon.  The TRAM pod fits so horribly.  It wasn't moulded to fit the nose at all.  Going to need more putty and styrene to solve this. Re scribing  the Revell kit and shelling out $$ for the cockpit seems more appealing now........

Yep, that's what I did, just couldn't be bothered loading-loading-loading to get to the end to see others' most recent posts. Did a little weathering last night, some streaking on the wings, but couldn't get my sludge wash to settle into the panel lines for some reason. Need to hit that again with a new mix.

I was using the last few drops of a bottle of ModelMaster RLM 81, thinking it was just beyond it's useful age.

Got off my duff and fixed the gaping holes on the TRAM pod.  Also refilled some seams.  I'll post pics when I get home, but I could be close to slapping primer on......Kinda just want to skip forward just to be done.  Most of the subassemblies are ready and waiting.  Outer wings, fuel tanks and pylons are ready for paint, canopy is futured and masked.  Running out of excuses.

Not true.  According to my wife I'm never at a loss for excuses!

Anyhow, here's a couple of pics of the TRAM pod.  All the green putty is covering the gaping holes in the kit's design.  Now I ask you, friends and neighbors:  Is this what we should expect from a newly-tooled kit in the $50+ range?

No posts since Sept 7?!?!? We're lucky there haven't been "agents" deployed to our various locations.

Did a little work on the ordnance last night, HARMs look good & are ready to mount, but I'm still not convinced I want to add the sub-munition pods. Not even sure how they attach to that rack to be honest. (The lower attachment points look nothing like the side-hanging attachment points. Trying to decide if I should just leave them off & go for a cleaner look, maybe just the empty racks??

Well I'm out!   Agents be damned.  House is officially on the market and the Realtor thought none too highly of my workshop, despite my arguments that a hobby room INCREASES home value and that the smell of paint thinner and glue fumes are no different than making the house smell like cookies.......so for the 2nd time in 6-months all my stuff is boxed and in storage.  Reality (And realty) suck......

Marriage, a death in the family, and moving have been proven to be the three most stressful life events. And none of them seem to help the modeling hobby either. It may explain why all the dwarves live in the North Pole...  Bang Head

Save yourself the trouble and just get the Italeri 72nd version---comes w/ wing-fold option...even Vance can build it...

Any of you big intruder groupies happen to have the skinny on the '48 Kinetic kit?

Can't recommend it.  Up until recently I was muddling through it poor fit and just frustrating in all.  For the same price you can get the Monogram and the Black Box cockpit.  All your missing out on are folding wings and recessed panel lines.

You should take it easy on Vance a couple of days. You did cost him some coin with your swordfish thread.
