lol, you and me both. Kicked the family out until 830 this evening - just me and the cats agents until then. Hoping for a finish tonight, but there will certainly be progress.

Alright - this is what I was looking for - good photos of that multi-unit hardpoint...

Also like the tail art on this one:

You could be right, sounds like Salmon just beach themselves at his feet when they see him approaching the rivers as well.

Manstein's revenge

OMG---the whining in my GB's is almost unbearable...

Why don't you ask Fermis how he mounted his?  He finished the exact same kit you are attempting to cross the finish-line with--AND I don't remember him crying about sub-munition mounts!!!

Wink Yes, I'll have to check his WIP pictures, unlikely to hear from him directly though as he is probably living in his deer blind right now!

Man, if only somebody would demand to know what I've been up to, I could be motivated to finish up my Intruder this weekend. (Although I'm still struggling with how to mount the sub-munition pods...)

Yeah, it's just the opposite of the Monogram where their Prowler has some of the same parts as their Intruder (Wings, armor, etc.)  The things that bugged me on the Kinetic kit were the absolute lack of location marks for the cockpit, I had no where to glue the pit and it kind of floated, poor fit of the wing roots, lousy fit of the nose gear bay (I needed several strips of styrene to make flush and the TRAM pod was just awful.  There's pics of the TRAM a few pages back.  That said, it was nothing insurmountable.  The overall fit of the fuselage halves was good, the nose fit fine and the detail is nice.  It's just not $20 better than the Monogram kit.

With regards to the Kinetic kit, it is the only Kinetic I have tried.  It seemed to me they took their EA-6B kit that got some decent reviews and threw in just enough A-6 parts to make a full Intruder kit.  In fact 2 of the sprues in the Intruder kit are from the Prowler offering.  I think it was a rush to market.  I can't say yay or nay to their other kits.  I still have the Prowler in the stash so time will tell if Kinetic just made a bad kit or if they're a bad manufacturer.

Manstein's revenge

Save yourself the trouble and just get the Italeri 72nd version---comes w/ wing-fold option...even Vance can build it...

I just may make it my first '72nd. It's a pretty big bird. You should take it easy on Vance a couple of days. You did cost him some coin with your swordfish thread.

lol, with ball season wrapping up, I need the abuse from SOMEONE to keep me inline! Wink

Any of you big intruder groupies happen to have the skinny on the '48 Kinetic kit?

Can't recommend it.  Up until recently I was muddling through it poor fit and just frustrating in all.  For the same price you can get the Monogram and the Black Box cockpit.  All your missing out on are folding wings and recessed panel lines.

Thought this might be useful to some of you guys. Few instruments missing, but otherwise good reference.

Well I'm out!   Agents be damned.  House is officially on the market and the Realtor thought none too highly of my workshop, despite my arguments that a hobby room INCREASES home value and that the smell of paint thinner and glue fumes are no different than making the house smell like cookies.......so for the 2nd time in 6-months all my stuff is boxed and in storage.  Reality (And realty) suck......

Marriage, a death in the family, and moving have been proven to be the three most stressful life events. And none of them seem to help the modeling hobby either. It may explain why all the dwarves live in the North Pole...  Bang Head

No posts since Sept 7?!?!? We're lucky there haven't been "agents" deployed to our various locations.

Did a little work on the ordnance last night, HARMs look good & are ready to mount, but I'm still not convinced I want to add the sub-munition pods. Not even sure how they attach to that rack to be honest. (The lower attachment points look nothing like the side-hanging attachment points. Trying to decide if I should just leave them off & go for a cleaner look, maybe just the empty racks??

Manstein's revenge

DiscoStu

  Running out of excuses.

You ran out of excuses a month ago---get to work...

Not true.  According to my wife I'm never at a loss for excuses!

Anyhow, here's a couple of pics of the TRAM pod.  All the green putty is covering the gaping holes in the kit's design.  Now I ask you, friends and neighbors:  Is this what we should expect from a newly-tooled kit in the $50+ range?

Got off my duff and fixed the gaping holes on the TRAM pod.  Also refilled some seams.  I'll post pics when I get home, but I could be close to slapping primer on......Kinda just want to skip forward just to be done.  Most of the subassemblies are ready and waiting.  Outer wings, fuel tanks and pylons are ready for paint, canopy is futured and masked.  Running out of excuses.
