And as much weight as I could jam into the nosecone. Lead fishing sinkers, jammed into some "no-shrink wood filler" so they don't rattle around & a touch of CA to seal the blob into place...

That reminds me of something I just saw in a YOUTUBE video...Ick!

Manstein's revenge

Pics or it didn't happen...

Alright, I was WIPED when I got home from the field last night - still a humid 80 degrees + full sun when we started playing. Went home, drank a bunch of cold water, took a cold shower, watched a few minutes of the Marlins/Red Sox gaem & hit the sheets. Manny requested photo update from 2 days ago....

Seats & cockpit area clearcoated, needs just a little wash now, IP with all "glass" in place...

And as much weight as I could jam into the nosecone. Lead fishing sinkers, jammed into some "no-shrink wood filler" so they don't rattle around & a touch of CA to seal the blob into place...

 Manstein's revenge:

 Kolja94:

Started decals last night - the good news is, as they dried, that 'off color' looking carrier film on the tail went away.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y241/Kolja94/Italeri%20A6E%20Intruder/photo-2-9.jpg

Sweet...looks like you went with one of the kit schemes...very nicely done...

Actually from Hi-Decal sheet 72-029, though that set doesn't include the nonskid areas on the wing roots, elevators, and spine (and at this point, I've no desire to paint those on) so I think I'll use the nonskid decals from the kit sheet...

Ah, yes---I have that sheet as well...I think one of the other options is the "Moonlighter" Marine a/c...

Nice progress! I expect to have some bench time this weekend, I've had a good run of weather up here for ball this past week, and recuperating a cut-up hand the week before that... Black Eye

I finally managed to get started today!

Started with getting rid of the molded on detail, and rebuilding the rear deck. (using a bit of "artistic license" and refering the Revellograms 1/48 pit)

http://i661.photobucket.com/albums/uu340/fermisb/2012%20models/others/IMAG0872.jpg?t=1339304130

I jacked up the PE ejection handles for the True Details seats, so I just used fine wire. I also shortened the control stick...that thing woulda been in the pilots face!

http://i661.photobucket.com/albums/uu340/fermisb/2012%20models/others/IMAG0873.jpg?t=1339304142

You just couldn't leave it alone could ya!!! Bang Head Whistling

The deck additions look really good fermis, busies it up quite a bit. I'm seriously considering adding some goodies back there now, it is a large spot to leave blank...

Agreed...note to self...don't join group builds with Fermis...unless I want to feel even more inadaquate.

Got back into the Kinetic Intruder over the past couple of nights.  Pit is painted and right now the coat of Future is drying.  I had thought of using some resin seats from the spares box but found they fit too proud in the pit.  So kit seats it is.  The seats built up nice but had a nasty V shaped seam running down the headrest.  I used some sheet plastic to level that out.  I assembled some of the major sub-assemblies: Wings and stabs and started test fitting.  So far the fit is less than promising.  The wing join is ugly.and getting a flush fit on the lower fuselage means about a 2mm step on the upper portion of the wing.  So I'll be sanding, sanding and sanding.  Lots of injector pin marks on the stabs.  Had to sand the lower half almost paper thin to get it to fit flush.  I'll post some pics this evening.

Manstein's revenge: I think I'll go with VA-85.  I got those markings on a Hi-Decal sheet I originally got for another project, but that one will be an extensive rehab of a not-so-great kit.  I really like the markings, and I'm pretty happy how this one's going so far, and thinking odds are good it will turn out better than the Revell rehab I'll do down the road.  I'll save the Italieri kit markings for VMA*AW)-332.

Major painting done as of last night:

(Soft edge on the demarcation, even though it doesn't show well here).

Hopefully will get to spray some Future tonight...

Looking good!  What scheme you going with???

What a great start Fermis!  Very nice indeed.

I'm still waiting on my "Iron Hand" parts from Roll Models.  I also ordered Squadron's "Wild Weasel, the SAM Suppression Story", which is supposed to have some good detail drawings on the A-6B.  I'm looking forward to getting started on this one.

Cheers,

Greg
