That's looking better and better, Porkbits.   Personally, i would not add FOD covers unless the intake trunking seams are just hideous.   Otherwise I'd leave off the covers to show off those ridiculously long intakes.

If I ever do another Su-25 (and I probably will) I'm definitely going to spray happy faces on the engine face plates so that if anyone shines a judge's light down there they'll get a laugh.

I have a local contest on the 20th. so I'm going to bring my own Frogfoot back to the bench for completion...   I doubt that I can finish the Su-27C in time. (unless I get off my #@! right now and resume work).

Thanks, Dean! Appreciate the compliments. You guys have been great motivators :-)

Hmmmmm. Maybe I won't get the covers, then.

Looks fantastic, but personally I wouldn't put FOD covers over the intakes, they look great! The paintwork also looks brilliant, nicely done there porkbits.

OK, quick update and a sneak peak...! Making good progress. Finished decals and weathering, flat coat, now turning my attention to the canopy. Then attach landing gear, ordnance, and fiddly bits. Currently pondering whether or not to buy Two Mike's resin FOD covers.

I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel....almost. :-)

Hope you guys are well.

In my ever-expanding quest for good prices, I found this on Amazon.com...

http://www.amazon.com/02239-Russian-MiG-29K-Fulcrum-Fighter/dp/B000GL1FQG/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1365022469&sr=8-4&keywords=MiG-29K

A Trumpy 1/32 MiG-29K for $46.00 .....   buyer beware as there's no indication to what one would be purchasing.

Thanks, I will borrow a better camera for the final pictures, as mine is not great for detail, I have just finished the mirrors, where I superglued tiny pieces of plastic to the dull side of tinfoil then cut around it in the shape of the mirrors carefully and I now have mirrors! I have to paint the other sides of them but for now they're as good as finished. Still have to do the rudders as I cut them off and I was going to use the Revell decals for it, but the fact that Revell supplies decals thicker than most carpet they were impossible to stick down, so I am just painting the Russian flag on the side of the rudders instead. I want it to look weary anyway and the decals were making it look brand new.

Looking good, Dean! 1/32 Su-33 would be awesome (and a Su-34, cough, cough).

Great work continuing on that canopy, Dean.   That pink looks the part.

I'd be OK with a Su-33 in 1/32....

Here is a video of an aircraft I think we will see from trumpeter soon in 1/32 scale as China has started making squadrons of them for their new carriers, I wonder if China will give them nice blue camouflage patterns like Russia does?

I have been adding detail around the canopy and the images no matter how hard I try always seem to be blurry, I think thats what I get for buying  a cheap camera, but hopefully you will be able to see some of the work I have done, I have set the canopy over the cockpit resting on a piece of sprue so it's not finished yet but soon enough it will be done, I am still considering adding missiles. You should see the pink sealant I added which is visible on almost all mig 29 canopy's, both single and two seat versions. I deliberately let it look slightly rough as close up they are never done neatly, if you see any of them you will see the migs have quite a sloppy job of the sealant applied, but I think I managed to get the colour right. I hope these pictures turn out well enough to see.

Some dis-assembly required?

I have to say that seeing that heavy sanding and the effect it had on your paint left me with some "ideas" to test in the future....

Yeah, nice save, and I really like the back-up scheme you picked. I'm with Dre, probably would've trashed the whole thing.

Trey, nice save!   I'd have been tempted to test its 'structural integrity' at that point...

Very well saved there, and the finished result I think is even better with the fact you said you had to re-scribe all the panel lines, looks great!

Dean that is really looking sharp!

Dre thanks I probably woulda been weathering by now at the very least but..............................

Epic bench fail! I spilled some solvent on the almost done Ruskie bird and had to backtrack a bit!

Before

So sanded it all back down, broke off every bit of protruding detail and knocked the canopy off to add salt to the open wound!

Of course had to rescribe as all the raised details were sanded away during the repair

Thankfully the decal sheet came with a second option for the Hindustan built version,so new scheme time

Wrapped it up and weathered ,not a top shelf build but will look okay hanging in the Man cave

I'm totally goofing off myself...  but I did manage to sell a bunch of figure sets and paint to a coworker today, so that counts as modeling, right?

Back to Russian jets now, if you have not seen this video and don't know what the Flanker can do aerobatic wise then this is good to see, I will be working on the Mig later today so hopefully I will have some pictures up later.

It's your choice  of course, but I'd go with a resin cockpit and some external PE.

I see, well I will get a walkaround book of the Tomcat and see whats what, and look at whats supplied, I did it with an F-15E and made it into the F-15I the 1/32 Tamiya kit that is, I used an aftermarket set but not completely so I never really got the full benefit. I will definitely get the Eduard Big ED for it, even though it is pricey. I have found a video on Youtube and I'm going to post it, it'd really good, it's about the Tomcat in Iranian service during the Iran Iraq war.

I really think that most 1/32 stuff is improved by a resin cockpit set and/or some PE, especially if there's a big canopy to see through.   I'll scratch some stuff, but I'm a long ways from scratching a complete cockpit in any kind of accurate detail.   Some of these modern resin sets are simply unbelievable in their detail- you'll want to take the time to paint them right because to do otherwise would be a travesty.

At his speed he would probably have made two by now I would have thought lol. I was thinking, I wonder is it worth getting aftermarket stuff for the Tomcat (I wont go on about it because it's the wrong place to talk about it) but the kit looks superb I have never used Resin, I always scratchbuild, I think I will perhaps do that, like i did with the Mig 29UB and K. Do any of you guys scratchbuild? Or get aftermarket stuff?

That MiG 29 is really sharp, Dean.   If that's just 6-7 months of work, I can't wait to see what a full year does for a F-14D!

Trey ought to be weathering that MiG-21 about now...

Yeah definitely! It almost stopped last year but at least its going again

I have to say I have migs and migs to build and I know its a Russian Jet GB but I saw the F-14 final flight and I just thought, Ihave the Trumpeter 1/32 F-14D with Final flight decals, and now I really wanna build it! But not yet, my mig has taken about 6-7 months now and the Tomcat will be built and posted on a thread of its own, but I think I wanna spend about a year on it, to get everything (every detail) exact.
