Man, Dre, can't imagine how LOUD it must be down there at the fence...bet those engines rumble your guts. Hope those ear cans are industrial strength. :-)

Are you a photographer then Dre? Some seriously great pictures from the NASCAR, not that I know anything about it!

Actually, I think I'll do the MiG-29 in a basic grey/grey-green scheme- although a plain unpainted aircraft like that Su-30 is tempting.   If there were a K in 1/32 I'd like to do the Chinese carrier-trials plane.

I've been shooting this all weekend with one more race to cover to this afternoon....   no time for the bench!

Every build I do is tedious and long. :-)

Yeah well I never thought of it that way, but there are the frequent images of migs with the black anti glare paint scratched, I can only guess that as they were often left outdoors in the harsh weather and with work perhaps on the aircraft . Those Soviet aircraft can certainly take a beating and keep flying. Why dont you do your Mig 29M in the pre-paint scheme? Dre, as about half the airframe is carbon composite, so about half the model will be yellow and the other half grey. Could look different. My MIG has now got all ariels and and I had to modify the mud guard around the nose wheel, as with the SAM metal gear, as the wheels were too far apart, but a small amount of plasticard fixed that, well I have to say this has been a challenging build, I will send them to the reader gallery when done and see if they like it. Also my local Model Shop thats been there since 1939 has closed! But it's okay it has moved to a retail park which is is Adelade (Belfast) which is a few stops away on the train. The funny thing is the Train station is so close my apartment over looks it, the view is better lol, the mountains as well etc, anyway I say as I think I will display it there. Anyone having a tediously long build like me?

Dre I am sure after seeing your models you could do just as good, however I am stuck doing this, I have found just the picture I needed to get for the inside of the canopy.

Also I have noticed all the wiring I have put into the back of the seats is not as visible as is on my model so I may have to scratchbuild some extras. But the canopy is painted so now it's time to start adding detail to the inside of the canopy and also I am attaching the antennas etc! Which can mean only one thing, close to finish!

I know right, it's absolutely brilliant, the guy said that took him 8 months to make, absolutely astonishing.

Ha ha ha I saw these messages on my mobile in work and thought I must say to those guys but Dre said it anyway! Also Dre I was looking on the Hobby-Space USA website and the prices are great. I was looking at the 1/32 SU-30MK that obviously only Trumpeter does, and it works out at £50! even with shipping of £20 or £30 whatever it may be it's still a killing! I may treat myself to one for my birthday next month. I say as I was looking at the same kit here and it's £126.99 and I am no scrooge but I do think it's pretty steep for a model, having said that when I but it, I will be getting the photo etch engines that are a kit themselves I have seen them made and they look phenomenal so when I get it, well, I have no idea how long it would take to build but who cares!

Dennis- there's an open deadline for this GB now...  so long as that Sukhoi has an "F" name and is powered by jet engines, it qualifies for the GB.

Constructor- Su-27 Flanker B.. yes!   What kit are you working on?

Anything from 1945 onwards that was a jet aircraft and begins with an F and is Russian. You wanna join? Scale doesn't matter.

Yes! I've seen a few that I couldn't believe were still flying (even worse than the one above, although that would be a fun scheme to try to replicate).  I'm assuming (hoping?) that the internal bits are much better maintained.

I suppose when you don't have the $$$, you have to make hard choices.

Decrepit is oft-times accurate for post-Soviet aircraft...  and there's far worse looking (and still flying) Su-25's on the net.

Thanks, Dre! I know the Future coat will tone down the weathering a lot, but she still should look beat up.

As usual with Russian planes, nailing down the "right" colors has been maddening. There's an online photo taken in 1993 in which it looks like it's been parked out in the rain and snow for ten years. In a later photo (at what appears to be an airshow around 1999), it  looks to have been repainted and restored. And in yet another photo it has a completely different color scheme. Gah.

So I decided to split the difference and make it used but not decrepit.

Porkbits- that looks suitably nasty so far, NICE.   That should look really worn out when finished.

After checking online references decided I didn't like the faded green base and switched to regular olive drab. Going for a weathered but not totally beaten up look. After the usual touch-ups, time to finish the pit, attach landing gear, and then stick on all of the fiddly bits.

Lol, Dre!

Looking good, Dean. I'm usually not a fan of pilot figures (they're hard to paint realistically and can detract from realism) but yours are really well done.

Making good progress on camo-ing my Frogfoot. Will try to post a pic later tonight.
