Anyway keep up the good work.

I gotta get back to work on my HobbyBoss MiG-17.  I haven't touched it in ages.

Oh yeah and let anyone who does join know it's now April 1st (and it's not an April fool lol) I decided to extend the finish date as we all seemed to stop, so I think we could use a little leeway.

In fact I think you're right Dre, but Im sure it's still the sealant, as it is often smeared around the inside of the window, but perhaps it is a primer, but the primers are usually yellow. Hmm.

That Foxbat is huge for its scale.   I think that the Russians tried to design it with an absolute minimum of curves, just straight lines.

Yeah for ultimate straight line speed, it could only handle 4G, However in service because it was welded steel there were few panel lines, so it may not be such a hassle to paint, however I have a 10 min video of the Foxbat if you have not seen it Gamera which could prove useful I can post it if you want.

I had problems trying to import pictures into Photobucket so no new pictures yet, but if you guys have any please send them in as we need to keep this thread alive, I have just finished a essay for university night school man and I'm knackered and it's 3.21am and hoped to see some pictures by now from you guys, Dre how about your 1/32 Mig 29M? Show us the painting options, or where in the build you are, parts whatever, bysamato, you too some excellent scratch building too lets see some more of your progress, remember this GB is better than all the others, and deserves to stay at the top of the thread so lets keep it that way people!

I am a slowly guy often Embarrassed also when i'm about a kit completation i focused my attention on it, actually the little WWI spad XIII ,about 90% complete

I'm waiting for inspiration to finish paint on the su-34

What's the problems on photobucket, you reduce picture size before to load? Usually i upload pictures at 800x600 (or 1280x978 for finished report) with cropping too and keep original (about 4000x3000 ) only on my HD

I'll get some photos up later today, but for the moment I must do the 'work' thing...

Bsyamato, your Su-34 inspiration is 1/350 scale and waiting to be mailed to you.... Wink

Thanks guys!

Dean: Thanks! I'd love to see the video.

Falconmode: Sorry I'm having trouble hunting up the paint notes I had. Frankly they were off the kit instructions so they probably were't terribly accurate though. When I get some more time I'm going to do a little more research, most of the reference books I do have are Cold War vintage and of questionable accuracy.

So..   here's the latest thing I'm working on this GB-

and the Avionix resin set for the cockpit-

I've gotten some of the easy stuff assembled- flaps, stabs and what-not...

and I've painted the interiors of the two engine nacelles- I should have airbrushed these but I didn't...        I went with a natural aluminum/Fulcrum grey dividing line as I've seen on some jets.

I'll replace all of the plastic static wicks on the control surfaces with small lengths of steel rods at some point as these will all get broken off during assembly..

The wheel wells have been glued in and are masked for easy airbrushing... once I decide upon the color gray that I'll use here.

and finally, a size comparison with the recently finished MiG-21MF...

and that's all I got done the other night!

Jeez, is THAT all?!?!?  :0

That resin set is impressive! May have to check out Avionix as I'm not familiar with their goods.

On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister

yeah, I was slacking off...  it was too late in the evening to fire up the AB, otherwise that resin would be primed and ready for paint!

Based solely on the two sets that I've opened up I highly recommend the Avionix brand resin sets as they're really nicely cast and very detailed.  There's one bubble pit that I have to fill on the IP, but that's all I've found so far.   Honestly, these 1/32 Trumpeter kits have very weak cockpits so I'll be using more resin sets as I go along.

Yeah I found the cockpits need busying up as they don't give you much, however stretched sprue makes a world of difference, cheaper to do as well!

Eh, some day I may try to scratch up an interior in the manner of our Italian friend but for now I go the easy route...  at least the kit was last year's Christmas gift.

The MiG will be on hold for a few days as I must throw paint at my Flanker these coming days- it is due 7:30am, next Thursday.

Nearly slipped off the page there, well I am not sure what Photobucket are doing so I will tell you what I'm doing I have painted my mig grey and the camouflage has been a mix of field blue and grey so its very close to grey, almost an old flanker blue. and the paint still looks old and abused so thats good I am sorry I have no pics but I will try and get some up on sunday.

I hope to throw some light blue onto the Flanker when I get home tonight.   It isn't getting a pre-shade or post shade and it won't be nearly as good as I want to make it, but by Odin's eye it'll be done.

Dean, if you have any familiarity with the MM enamel Fulcrum Grey and Fulcrum Green paints- what is your opinion of them?   I'm tempted to use the grey as both a base color and for the interior areas excepting the cockpit...

Personally I have never seen Model Master paints ever except when I was in Poland, so I have never used them, Tamiya Sky Grey is good for a fulcrum, but honestly I almost always mix paints until I get what I'm looking for from a photo, I would get Tamiya green and add white until to your eye it looks right, Fulcrum green is somewhat drab. I dont know if this will help, Paint references are never too accurate I find, well, not always, Look at this picture, see if it is any use it's got a satin finish and in the natural light the colour is more visible and easier to determine.

Got a question for anyone who would know, I have seen people use colour modulation, I believe as far as I know it is dots of colourful oil paint all blended together with white spirit and dragged the direction of gravity. Has anyone done this? If so how did it work out? I really need to make my mig heavily weathered as by the looks of it, it got left outside for years and took quite a beating from nature.
