Thank you sir. Yes, I was hoping that he would see this one, but unfortunately we have not seen hair nor hide of him. Great Wall did a new kit of this bird. But there is nothing wrong with this one. No you can not marry it!!! Accurate Miniatures did the SBD, TBF/TBM, and SB2U, while Revellogram Promodeler did the SB2C.

Somewhere HvH is smiling. And that old Monogram to boot. Didn't AM make that model? Is it the same molds?

Everything is just right, the blue the markings. Really nice, the other models must have really been superb.

An update here- last night I was finally able to attend IPMS after a 7 month hiatus due to work scheduling conflict. This baby took 3rd place in the Master Catagory for our monthly contest.

Splendid build stik. And a Monogram? Did that kit come with folding wings? Looks good regardless and on those early war kits the raised panels actually work pretty well. I am tempted to get the Lion Roar rendition, but the plane is so ugly, that i'm just not sure. But history indeed. The early carrier raids, Coral Sea and Midway. And at least their torpedoes worked sometimes, a problem we didn't really solve until late 1943. Anyway, very good.

Baron, I dont begin most of my weathering until after the decals have been applied. That way I know they will not be too clean and bright compared to the base model.

mic, yes I am very much a WWII history buff, along with much of the rest of the 20th century military history afterwards.

Great job Stik, last Monogram torpedo bomber I did was the 1/48 Dauntless kit when I was a kid, these kits were always fun to build. Are you WWII study ?? Great history background.

Thanks for the explanation, Sitk!  Yes, I use different media for the different layers, too.  Thinking about it, I tend to use acrylics most often for my washes and other weathering, along with chalks, and some oils, right from the tube.  I do seal my base colors, too, before proceeding (Future before decals, then Dullcote after, then the weathering).

Greg, I am a big believer in the K.I.S.S. approach. I prefer methods I have found to be tried and true in this hobby.

Rich, I need to study those Torpedo 8 photos to get an idea of what look I want to achieve on the torp.

Reasoned, you are right about the background info helping to bring these builds to life. I am pleased that my research work here accomplished that goal.

Late to the party but must add my 2 cents, as a WWII buff, the information is very interesting and makes these builds come alive.  And as stated in the MM2 GB thread, this is a top notch build worthy of much praise.
