I don't have any F-4s completed (and they on the other side of the world from where I am right now anyway), but how would you guys feel if I posted photos of F-4 builds from model shows I've manage to attend over the years, including the 2012 Nats in Orlando?

Well, that does it - I'm pulling the Hasegawa RF-4B outa the stash & starting on it as soon as I get home. All the builds here are simply fantastic! Keep 'em coming!

thanks for the kind words. paint was mixed with white first then paint the edges with the normal shade, then post shading applied. all done free handed.

Very nice F-4's docipaul !! The weathering on the rivets are very cool, how did you do it? And did you free hand the camo? Thanks for the pics.

Those look pretty good docipaul. How long did it take you to do them up? The camo pattern on the one looks great.

That sounds like a decent idea using the silly putty and all. Like I said im sure ill try it one day, who knows though. I got the Monogram 1/48 F4c but the newer 2011 release. Im thinking of buying some decals off ebay and doing a different scheme that the camo/candy cane motif that it shows.

thanks Reaper I appreciate it. Camo wasn't that bad actually, I used a lot of silly puddy to help get the patterns.

Dave that quad color paint scheme is pretty nice. I like how you mafe sure all the angles and lines were correct acrosss the entire body of the phantom. Must have taken you awhile to do so, but I must say you do have a dead eye for alignment.

Thats pretty darn decent Squatch. I give props to anybody brave enough to paint a camo scheme. I myself have neither the patience and probably not the skill either to do it. One day I may attempt it though, though I doubt the finished product will see the light of the forums.

First try at a 3 color camo, not the best on here but I had a great time building and learned a ton, especially on the moderation of weathering. Not modeled after a single aircraft, just kind of did a lot of little testing on this one.

The Final Countdown had WAY better aviation photography.

Ahhh yes the final countdown with martin sheen. Out way before topgun and had plenty of action scenes with the F14 like when they blasted those zeros. I like how everyone tries to credit topgun as making the F14 famous though. First time I saw and fell in love with the tomcat was in the final countdown. Sorry tom cruise, you were just an afterthought.

That Tumbleweed should end up as a decal set.

It has been for years ;-) Superscale did that on a RF-4B/C sheet

Here is my F-4. It too is the revogram kit. I painted the candy cane stripes instead of using the decals. and the angle of the elevator is not right due to a fall it took before I took the pic. I did fix it later on.

how did you do the gloss finish on the raf toom?

I used the Testors Model Master custom lacquer series out of a can, followed by it's higloss clear. They're for car models, but work well on anything. She looks better in pics than in person. Never spray lacquer in Mississippi in July....
