Revell 1:32 Bf 109G-10 "Erla"

So after having built the G-6, I thought I might as well get Hartmann's G-10 Erla. Both kits are basically the same so I think I'm prepared. Will probably get Barracuda's resin parts for small wing-bulges, as Hartmann's G-10 actually didn't have the large Kurfürst-style ones. Revell's camo colors are wrong as well, but I think I know what I'm doing.

Started with the office floor. First time scratch-building straps, too...
As always I'm using VMC and paintbrushes.

Seatbelts (Eduard) arrived today. Shoulderstraps will only be installed at the very end when I install the canopy.

Wings and fuselage mated today. All cowling seams filled/sanded/rescribed (badly ;-) )Also notice I beefed up the supercharger intake lip a bit. Now I need to wait for my Barracuda small-bulge wing parts to arrive.

Looks great! I just picked this kit up from my LHS last weekend. Was more than disappointed with the color call outs. I expected to see more than "T=mouse grey, matt." I guess I will just use colors shown in the instructions of other kits I have built.

Will be following your build!

Mike, if you're depicting Hartmann's mount it's 83 (or 82, the darker of the 2 greens) / 75 (grey-violet) / 76. Since no pictures of the belly exist, it is unknown if parts of the wing were bare metal. What is known though is that Hartmann's mount had the G-6 style small bulges on the wings (as well as the smaller tires), not the late G-6/K-4 ones as Revell provided. There's AM parts for it, luckily.
Eduard brassin G-6 legs could also be used, though I didn't bother this time.

A big old 109, ain't nothing better, the office looks great. Looking at that canon breach sitting between the pilots legs, I'd bet that thing would give you a headache after a few rounds. But then, I suspect it would be much preferable to the ache for the guy it's pointed at. Wink

Quick update: resin parts installed. Had some gaps at the wingroot, difficult to fill/sand, but it's ok. "Primed" the bird with RLM 76 (Tamiya AS-5) now.

haha, the cockpit looks definitely awesome buddy, however i see some nice rivets on the bottom but none on the top, how do you like the details on this kit? :)

Well, Revell's 1:32 109s don't have rivets on the topside because they were sanded flush on the real birds. I like the overall detail on the kit but there's a few "wtf"-moments: on the cowling, some assembly subparts are cut like just a mm away from an existing panel-line. Instead of just cutting parts along those, they make you fill, sand and rescribe lost detail for what? Other than that, the fit is wonderful and the cockpit detailed (apart from the moulded-on seatbelts which don't look good and need sanding)
I made a custom opening where the spinner goes so I can install the exhaust stacks after painting using tweezers. I hate to pint around installed exhausts pipes. But at that price, buying this kit is a no-brainer! Throw in some AM seatbelts and maybe the bronze legs from Eduard ( and if you do Hartmann's plane, you need the AM parts with the small bulges) and you have a perfect G-10.

thanks for the info, actually i have Revell 1:32 spitfire Mk22 (the old one) and i should say i really dont like the details so much. however it seems the new one (which is Mk2 as far as i remember) is much better.
