Thank you UKguyinUSA!  I try my best to follow through my builds.  I'm no pro like you, yet, your builds are inspirational.  I had some time today to lay some of the base coat down, here is the results.  See the results below.

To M.Brindos,

I really love the way it blends into the painted areas, it's subtle yet has finesse.  I have mixed my own washes but I've always failed at the task at hand.  I highly recommend the CreateFX!

Great job on the engine and cockpit Toshi, coming together nicely.

And cool photo of the fire-bomber Bish, I had no idea about them.

Hmm. I was wondering how those new Testors Create FX would work out. I haven't purchased any because I'm always making my own. What are your impressions with them Toshi?

Toshi, i hope you don't mind a slight diversion. I just had to find a pic of those candian Avengers. This one is from 2000.

Now that would make a nice build.

Toshi

To Bish,

I too was shocked at the shear girth of this aircraft.  Then again as GMorrison pointed out, the Avenger holds three personnel and a torpedo.  I've read that the restored Avengers have added a fourth person.

Toshi

Thats very true. I recall the first time i built a Stuka and put some figures next to it. I ha of course seen photo's, but it was only when i had a model of one with somthing to give it scale that i realised how bg it is. Doesn't have the girth of the Avenger though.

roger, now i dind't know that. Thats one long life for thesethings. Hopefully it was reaslisehow important they are and they were not scrapped.

Thanks roger_wilco, your kind words are always inspirational.  I did not know that they flew Avengers in the modern era.  WOW!  Thank you for the read and reply.

Toshi,

That kit looks awesome even in the box.Looking forward to your progress on this one.I've seen a real Avenger in flight a few times at airshows. It's a good size aircraft for sure.Hard to believe that the last in service (as fire bombers in Canada) were only retired around 15 years ago. That says something about the design of and versatility of the design.

Thats whats its all about Toshi. Its not nearly as much fun if the only person seeing your builds is you.

I wanted to get a sense of just how big that Avenger is. I have the same tamiya paint stand so i put my 32nd Bf 109 fuselage on it, its at about the same stage as your Avenger. And boy that thing is big, not just the length but the bulk of the fuselage. Mine just goes right inbetween those metal pieces, they won't gripe it like they do yours. Gamera mentioned how hard it is to imagine somthing that big can land on a carrier. What gets me is that something that size only has one engine.

I can see your toes. LOL.

Most of the members have more than their share of stashes. I wont be surprised if most too have more kits than they could possibly build in a lifetime. But thats part of the fun.  Hahaha.

Good luck on this build!

I fully intend to build all mine.

Wowzza Toshi - Another fine build on the way to completion, I'll bet it will be a really good one, seeing how well you're advancing. GMorrison is spot on, you are making excellent progress with your modeling skills, turning out work to be really proud of.

It seems to be great therapy for you, as is evident through you're continued building and finishing improvement. This is a very satisfying hobby for all of us, wouldn't you agree Toshi? Thanks for the WIP posts.

Look at you go, guy!

Your skills have taken a giant leap. I think your weathering effort would be mostly fading, which you can do with your a/b.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

This is my favorite time of the year, although the NFL teams are playing pre-season football, it's the upcoming regular season that starts up in September.  With the games starting up in a few weeks, I'm very excited especially this year.  I now get to watch the game while I work on my models.

This will be a whole new experience for me.  From now to September I'll be working on this build, then I have to figure out what my next build will be.

To my fellow forum members,

I've been most unsuccessful with any and or all weathering to any effect with all my builds.  They are most often way too overdone, I have yet to find the perfect medium.  So the only way for me to learn is to continue trying and experimenting with various techniques.

Due me to my lack of knowledge and inexperience, I purchased two washes of Testors CreateFX.  I used these on the cockpit thus far, they are FX Black Stain #79312 and FX Gray Stain #79300.  I brushed these on in varying degrees as well as utilizing a simple method of blotting with a paper towel.  See below for reference of my attempt.
