Hey Bish... been a while my friend.  But that's my fault.  You're doing a great job on this bird.  My favorite version of the 109.  Best lines of the breed.  probably 2nd only to the 190D-9 for fav German fighter.  keep up the good works.  But, of course, I know you will.

This is really coming along nicely. It's great to see you build it, since I have a few 1/32 German planes, and I am just making the jump from 1/48, so I feel like I can definitely learn from this post.

Well, after the struggle with the yellow, i finally got it sorted, with a good lesson learned in the process, and got some paint on this bird. But first of all the canopy. I got the main piece put together, its not all that neat as its very thin PE which i found awkward to bend, especially on the inside pieces. Overall, while these PE canopy's are nice, i am not sure they are worth the effort given how thin and well detaile dthe kit one is and any shortcomings are dealt with by the Eduard PE set. But i do have the one for the G, so maybe i might change my mind after that.

Once dried i got those areas masked up and the underside painted. I did that yesterday and today its touch dry, but i will leave it until tomorrow before masking and painting the top. But it does mean i can un mask the wheel wells and fit her legs on.

I also got the figure put together and primed. I know, black figure on a black base, not the best way to take a pic.

And finally a pic of the tail wheel. The decals include a white one for the sides of the wheel. But one pic i saw showed the white well worn, which i gues would not take long in the desert. So i painted the wheel NATO Black. Then i did the white useing Tamiya flat white but not properly mixed. Finally i used the NATO black again, this time with out stiring, and went over the white.

I still have to paint the strut of it RLM 02.

I was shaking my head just looking at that PE canopy frame assembly.  This is probably one of the reasons why I love modern jets, especially the F-16. LOL.

I'm digging that 109, great work.

Wow Bish, not sure how I missed this but it looks amazing.  I can't believe how intricate that canopy looks.  I don't know if I'd be able to go through with trying to get it to look right.  Amazing job.

Really like the way you managd the Pilots Office.
The canopy works look intreaguing but looks like you managed that very well.
Happy that you are posting in this section as well and not only in th GB one, I find great inspiration in your work!

A short update before the decals go on. Despite useing Xtracolour RLM 79,which is glss,i still had to give the top a coat of future.

Are those colors gloss straight from the bottle? 

Ye, most of the Xtracolour range is gloss, that's one reason why I like them.

The onlycolour tehre that isn't Xtracolour is the white, i used Humbrol glos for that.

Bish - this thing is coming out amazingly well. As for the PE canopy - I just can't... I'm too clumsy and would foul it all up.

I can't wait to see more of this as you get the decals on.

Looking good Bish. The scheme looks very cool. 

When spraying gloss paints, I find that if you thin them a tad more than normal, they spray much better and that glass finish is easier to capture. This comes in very handy when dealing with priming for an Alclad finish. I'm no fan of acrylics and favor enamels and lacquers hands down.

Paint went on quite nicely. Can't wait for the decals and wash pics.

Thanks BK. One would think that building an aircrfat in any scale would be just the same, but i have learnt its not. Its been about 30 years since i built an aircrfat bigger than 1/72nd, and i have certainly learnt a few things.
