Toshi,

Sorry I haven't commented recently on the progress of your builds.I just started a new job last week so trying to get fitted in there. The A-7 is looking really great! I used to own the Aurora Models boxing of this same kit (but sold it a couple of years ago.)

Congratulations on your new job, and not to worry about not being able to follow my builds.  As my dad used to say; "Work comes first".

Toshi, I must say preshade or no preshade the paint still looks great! Being an old kit, how was the fit? Looks like you had no problems at all. Looking forward to seeing it all finished!

Why thank you, I just need to keep practicing the whole pre or post shade issue.  Hopefully I'll be able to get a handle on it.  As for fit issues, you sir are correct in your observations, there were none whatsoever.  No putty was needed.  I just simply sanded the seams and that's about all there was to do.  I will be placing the decals on this afternoon, I'll have more photos of the Corsair II soon.

Not to nitpick but I noticed some bleed through along the paint edges. IF I am using masking tape, I will AB some flat clear along the masking tape's edge so that the next color doesn't bleed under.

Great work so far. Is the gray too dark?

In reference to the bleed issue, I'll do that on my next build, I learn something new everyday, thank you sir.  As for the gray color, I don't know, I went off of other A-7 builds and got as close as possible.  Thank you for your informative and useful reply.  It is much appreciated.

I think the right gray would be Gull Gray. Otherwise, the Corsair is looking mighty fine, Toshi!  This plane happens to be the first model plane I ever built.  I know they used to call it "SLUF" but I think she's pretty.

A-7A CORSAIR II COMPLETED!

A first for me to AB a two toned fighter jet.  Next time, I'll have a little more knowledge and experience in modern day aircrafts.  Another first for me was to have two kits being built at the same time.  If you take a look at the helicopter thread, I completed a A-64 Apache, although that build also does not have an accurate paint scheme, I ultimately had fun and was very excited by my outcome.  In the end, that's what counts the most.

I really loved the decals of the Corsair II.  It is the most colorful decal applications I've ever encountered.  It really enhanced the A-7A.  As many of you know, my favorite builds are of WWII fighters and bombers, so these two model kits were a fantastic change of pace of which I clearly embraced.

My next up and coming build will be a challenge as it's a Tamiya 1:32 Supermarine Spitfire Mk. VIII.  As always the case, I will do a step by step assembly process for forum members to follow.  Until then, please view my most recent completion of a A-7A Corsair II below.  Thank you forum members for this opportunity in allowing me to share this build with you all.

I hope you start your A-7 build even if it's in a galaxy far far away!  It would be a pleasure to view and follow your Corsair II build!

today I went to my local HS and saw the A-7 kit you built and the side pics on the kit box looks very close to the gray you used on the upper sirface of your A-7.hey its great as for me the weather down here is NOT good for airbrushing with all this rain so I have a few prodjects on the back burner. its all good

Thank you for the reiteration on the A-7A Corsair II build.  The main importance for me is that forum members enjoy reading and viewing my threads as well as I enjoy writing and posting photos of my builds.

I can only pray for rain!  It's been so hot and humid here in Northeast Ohio, it's as if the "Dogs Day Afternoon" has made a return here once again.  Except it's September.  LOL!

I know for a fact that in November, I'll wish for Indian Summer to hit us for a few days just to warm things up during fall, although fall is great weather as it's cool enough to AB outdoors.

In preparation for winter here, as it will get severe, I just purchased a portable paint booth.  It's a complete set that turns into a suite case of which is great for storage when not in use.  It should arrive sometime at the end of the week or the beginning of next week.  Just in time for my next build!

Take care my friend and I hope for your sake, the rain stops long enough for you to continue and complete your massive undertaking of model kit projects.

Well that was quick! You did well on the Corsair, Toshi.  And your skills are obviously improving on each kit completed.  As they say, practice makes perfect!

Hey Toshi, she looks good! And yeah wow, I just now saw your thread and you're already done!

I wouldn't worry too much about the pre-shading. It's another one of those things where you just have to fool around with it till you get it right. And a little sloppy is good, I've tried it with a felt-tip marker and it just looks too perfect, you want some variation.

Yeah, pre-shading takes time to perfect. I am nowhere close to it.

I'll just have to continue to practice my pre-shading in order to get some semblance of it.

I did some work yesterday, again, not so much of progress done.  I'm having some issues where I needed to add just a small tab of putty.  I'll take care of this today.  Thank you forum members for your support!
