Rick - I've been watching this one come along in the Mustang GB, and it turned out REALLY nice! I don't think I've seen checkers painted, let alone painted so flawlessly. That one is definitely something to be proud of.

Rick,

A lovely P-51!  Years from now, people will be looking at pictures of models on the internet and will wonder, "I don't remember an aircraft named 'Amorous Len III'" and then try to find it in an aircraft data base (without luck).  You've created a legend!  Big Smile

The P51D Mustang is finished

The only boob boob I did , was the name of the plane .  Amorous Len 3 . I did not know there was to be a Gl and g in front of the name . They were not attach to the name . My lack of experience . So the name stays Amorous Len 3   .

I highly recommend this kit . Everything kit great and easily assemble .

I will start a new build

Tamiya 1/48 scale Focke Wulf Ta183A

I will be working on/off on the ch 53 build

Enjoy

Rick,

Great job on that paint job!  Came out very nicely.  Smile

In your first picture, it looks like the landing gear are a little off. Could be a trick of the camera, tho.

And "Amorous Len"?  I laughed when I saw that.

Gary

thanks a lot .

i think everyone has laugh at that name  . I'm going keep it now. It's  with the plane now .

I think the landing gear is off little too

I don't build planes . i do helicopter but I really like these darn planes . They are fun .

Stunning work. The checkers certainly do look better painted. I do the same. Where did you get that steel circle template? I've been looking all over for one. Joe

I like your two tone silver finish.  Really highlights what was bare aluminum vs painted silver.  Also nice job on the invasion stripes.  What white paint did you use?  To get enough opacity from the last invasion stripes I painted the paint ended up so thick it made a distinct raised border around the stripes!

Tamiya White X-2

Paul Budzik has great videos . One video talks about paint and tape edges . Can't remember which one

You did a great job on that nose checkering, Rick.  Cutting out and applying individual squares of tape indicates to me that you too are a sufferer of ASD / AMS.  Big Smile

Oh My !  that's a beautiful aluminum finish you've put on there'  my weakest point.

In fact I am on my second try for my 1/48 Hsg. F-86.  had to redo the black base because i didn't listen to the guys on here and used Alclad Base black and it never dried.  I complained to Alclad about their product but they simply ignored me.

That came out really well!  Good thing the Alclad doesnt peel off when you put tape over it?

Man she's looking real good! This alclad stuff has been intriguing to me so I went out on got some aluminum shade 1 which I intend to use on my mustang as well. Great work, looking forward to the finished product.
