Great to see a Skyraider, Toshi! I'll be interested to see how the paint marker works, too, and I agree with Gamera, it seems safer than a Sharpie.

I've always thought of the Skyraider as a beast, since it carries so many bombs and missiles for a prop aircraft. I just hope I can pull it off as this is one of many firsts for me. I guess the only way to learn is to roll your sleeves up and just jump right into the project. Thanks BrandonD, for your support and read and reply.

I remembered that I made a Monogram Skyraider as a kid. It had this really cool bee or wasp decal on the tail of the aircraft. I'll get started as soon as I weather the M1A1. Thanks BrandonK!

Hey Steve, could be- I swear the forum gets a lot less traffic than it used to. Or it could be just people running out of enthusiasm near the end of many of the yearly GBs. Or both maybe- heck I dunno...

I think the GB's have been in decline for quite a few months now, IMHO i believe in par its due to the number of GB's. But the forum on the whole does seem to have a lot less activity in the last couple of months.

Could be less time during the summer months. I don't have any model time during summer. Now I'm getting the itch.

Looks to be a very interesting build! I'm liking the idea with pre shading with paint markers. Some people will say it's ok to be a lil sloppy with pre shading but I like how more uniform it is. A lot of Gundam builders use paint markers for shading panel lines with good results. Pulling up a chair for this one.

Yeah, either way. I know these will be my last to host for a while. I way overextended myself this year to the point were it's not enjoyable. I've had to throttle back and not worry if I don't complete all the GB's I enrolled in. I have 4 builds between now and June that I would like to complete. I think I can do that.

Toshi: The Sharpie does work but I think I saw someone here complaining about 'bleed-though' and getting bad reactions with the paint. I won't use them again. I think your paint marker is probably much safer.

No, sorry buddy, just Boeing, Mustang and Artillery. There may be a Vietnam GB somewhere.

That ended back in August. Most of the GB's that are supposed to be on going seem to be dead in the water.

Maybe one GB should get started with; "Build your favorite model kit". LOL!

Very cool Toshi, I've got one on those buried in my stash somewhere.

I'm interested in how your pre-shading with the paint pen comes out. I've tried it before with a black Sharpie brand felt-tip marker and it looked just too perfect, somehow I think the pre-shading looks better with a little sloppyness if I'm making any sense.

My issue is it going to even work. LOL! Sharpie marker, hmmm. Very interesting. Thanks Gamera.

To my fellow forum members,

I apolagize to my lack of contribution to the aircraft thread. Currently, I just finished a build in the Armour thread, it's a M1A1 Abrams Tank. I would like you all to take a visit to my very first tank build. Any critques are a must! I can only learn from this, including this build.

The Skyraider has been in my stash for two whole weeks now. LOL! Hey, that's a very long time for me and a record breaker! LOL! I have added a Eduard Interior PE set and for the third time I will attempt the impossible for me. Panel lines. I tried AB the panel lines but they were crooked like crazy.

I came up with a new idea, purchase Testors Paint pens and see what happens. I hope this experiment works. I purchased Gloss Black and some fine tips. Someone on the forum highly recommended Gloss Black. We will have to wait and see what happens good or bad! I am going to be positive and say I will accomplish this technique! I've been around the world twice with barely $20.00 in my pocket. If I can do that, I should be able to at the very least see some panel lines after my main base coat of which will be a light gray as oppose to the camo motif.

I have too many planes in the camo motifs, I need some other color in there. Until that point, please view my introduction to the Skyraider build. Thank you very much for all your support FSM Forum members.
