Looks like the minor part fit issue was corrected easily And the build is progressing nicely. I have found that when free handing dark and light gull gray, the contrast is very small so I use some silly putty for the demarcation line to get a stronger contrast between the two colors.

Mike, its not a bad kit and hasegawa have sever\al options out including USAF, a VIP one and some Japanese i think.

PJ, ye, i used white tac to mask this. The colurs are listed as light and dark compass grey, but i imagine the same applies to those as with gull grey.

   This is looking really nice and I especially like the pit.

Uh Oh, i have the Hobbycraft kit. How bad is it ? 

I have managed to get the osprey finished. The main problem i had was with the large stripped decals on top. They are rather fragile, and while there was a little damage to the one son the fuselage, that was easy to fix. But the left wing decal completly fell apart. One of the guys on Brit modeller was kind enough to send me a couple of spares he had. But what i did not realise is that these came in two shades, and mine was the dark one and yes, you guessed it, the ones he sent were a lot lighter.

So after giving it some thought, i apllied the decal and then painted over the ligt strips with a darker colour that was a close match. Of course its not as neat as the decals, but after going over it a couple of times its better than just leaving it.

And after a flat coat, i added the whels and engines and secured it to the base. I did say this build would not be weathered to match the pics, and i certainly meant that. A nice change for me.

But i am not calling this done quite yet. I have just got a set of Revell modern pilot figures so i should be able to get all i need now, but it just won't be complete until i can add some chocks, which will have to wait until next month.

That's a very nice model and you've built it up just great. That thing with the decals sure is a pity - I had a similar problem with Hasegawa decals on two builds I did last year - they wrinkled badly when I was putting them down, looks like they don't like decal solvents at all, I didn't quite figure that out. But you saved it, so congratulations on your build! What's next? Good luck with your projects and thanks for sharing

Thanks pawel. No, they don't like the solvent at all. In hind sight, i thnik the larger ones should have been cut into sections, but then it would have been a pain to line up.

Next up is an Ar 555 i started a week ago when this stalled for a bit.

I think it looks great, Bish!  I think I see what you're talking about with the decals on the left wing, but unless you had mentioned it, I would probably not have noticed.  I am curious about what those areas represent, however.  Are they walkways on top of the aircraft?

Oh! And I'm sure you won't notice a few missing bathroom tiles.  They went for a good cause!

She looks great Bish! I too like how you positioned the engines in the midway setting.

Shame about the decals, I think I've said before- Hasegawa, some of the best kits out there with some of the absolute worst decals.

Gary, yes, i think they are walkways. they have no step markings all around the outside which face into the strips. I think i have actually surprised myself and done a better job than i give myself credit for, it was loking quite messy at one pint.

Gamera, i have not realy had major issues with Hase decals before, but then i have not done any this big. It was mainly when i tried to move them into the correct position that the problems started, and thats when i felt i needed a drop of micro Sol, which is what they really did not like.

I'm halfway through with my 1/72 Hobby Craft kit and it looks like a toy compared to the Hsg. I just wanted a quick and eazy build so I'm not going to super detail it, but my heart is no longer in it.

Wow! Bish, looks fantastic! I was just commenting on how so many builder now are making these 1/72 kits look like a larger scale! And you are another one! Again, fantastic work!

Ok guys, the moment you have all been waiting for, the Osprey is finally finished. (About bloody time i hear you all say )

The chocks i was going to get from hannants have been out of stock for a while now, so i decided to bite the bullet and get anotehr of the hasegawa ground equipment sets. thats now 4 i have and all chockless. Looks like i have goign to have to build some more modern USAF aircraft and use some of that kit.

I kept the dio nice and simple, just the 4 crew about to board. I just wanted a nice simple one, but mainly, there was no way on earther i was goign to paint that USMC camo on the ground crew in this scale. I ain't that mad. I used one Hase figure and the other 3 are from the Revell set, pretty nice figures.

And there you have it. Thanks all for following along, and for your paitence.

And now i have had to put my Arado to one side while i try and get hold of some.....

Yep, you guessed it, figures, this is a real lesson to stock up while i can. 72nd aircrew figures are the bain of my modelling life. Why do we do this to ourselves, why i ask, WHY.

Thanks allan, and no, a nice simple oD will do. I have a set of MC desert trousers, swopped them for a British dersert hat in Afghan, i think that would drive me cross eyed trying to paint that lol.
