The Skyraider is finished.

All in all not a bad kit.  The decals were rough to be honest but they are on.

Pictures.

Well, thanks for inspiring me.  Now I'm off to buy a J variant to go with the H (edited for stupidity) I already built!  Superb job!  Skyraiders have always been one of my favorite birds.  Like the meatier cousin of a F4U with a ton of ordinance to boot.  Plus the role it played cannot be understated; a lot of American aviators probably came home because of that plane.

PS if you haven't gotten enough skyraider love yet, the H (edited, again, for stupidity) is a terrific kit right out of the box (its probably the same kit with some different decals and a few minor changes).  Plus, it shot down a mig-21!

Cheers!

On the Bench:

  • Tamiya 1/48 A-1J Skyraider (USAF)
  • Tamiya 1/48 He-219 A-7
  • Tamiya 1/48 P-47M

In the Fridge:

  • Modern Times Brewing Blazing World
  • Lawson's Finest Liquids Sip of Sunshine
  • Half Acre Gone Away IPA

There is just something about a Sandy with all the ordnance slung under her wings that screams 'Don't tread on me' that I really like. Love the SEA paint scheme. Great work.

X2 on Aggieman.  Very nice work on a "Sandy Lead".  Need to pair her up with a Jolly Green to have the definitive pair of aircrew rescue.

A delight to view! I really like the stains you've added in the last picture. Great job.

I like how your chipping on the cowl turned out. Did you do that with a sponge, brush, or pencil?

Oh Man Joe, Your Skyraider is absolutely choice. You did a terrific job all around on it. Your camo and weathering is exceptionally well done. Give yourself a healthy pat on the back for a job very well done.

It was with a brush.  A bit splotchy in spots.
