Completed Revell of Germany 1:32 De Havilland Mosquito Mk.IV
Posted by Toshi on Saturday, February 6, 2016 9:24 PM

To my fellow forum members,

Today was a great day for me.  Physically and mentally I felt great for the first time in a long time.  I realize that a human being without those two things cannot function in today's world.  I know, just ask me.  LOL!

The day was much more fulfilling as Mrs. Toshi knew I was feeling better in that she took me on an excursion to a new hobby shop some 40+ miles away.  It was worth the travel time of almost an hours drive.  The hobby shop in question was called Hobby Town USA in Mentor, Ohio.  There, they had trains and RC galore.  Aisle of model kits ships, cars, space, misc., and of course without question aircraft.

Mrs. Toshi purchased me two kits, a Revell of Germany 1:32 De Havilland Mosquito and a Revell of Germany 1:32 Focke Wulf Fw190 F-8.  The 190 comes with a stand of which I will definately utilize!  Mrs. Toshi also purchased a handful of supplies that she felt I needed.  After our trip, we went back to town in Streetsboro, Ohio and I took her out to dinner at Applebee's and had a great time.

Now back at our castle, I've taken the opportunity to build the Mosquito first as just have a almost complete Stuka waiting for it's completion.  By the way, I had to stop my Stuka build yesterday as I was making a mask out of Tamiya tape for the Stuka canopy.  My hands were not responding properly.  So Mrs. Toshi told me to stop and we both went onto eBay and purchased a Eduard Mask for the 87B.

So now while I wait for the mask, during the interim, I'll be busy with the Mosquito build.  I'm also expecting by the end of next week a delivery also from eBay of a Kitty Hawk 1:32 P-39 Airacobra.  I'm so excited, I really can't wait.  Until my mask arrives, please view my Mossie build.  Thank you in advance to my forum brothers and sisters, your support gives me the drive to progress each and everyday.

Toshi,

It's great to hear that you and Mrs. Toshi had a great day out on the open road. Man, you got to hit a Hobby Town....very nice. It's good too hear that you are having a healthy day.

Now the new build...I have this aircraft on my "wish list" and can't wait too see you get this one underway. Happy building my friend.

I read a couple of reviews in reference to these kits sometime ago.  what is funny is that I had these very two same kits on my watch list on eBay.  Then here's Mrs. Toshi picking out a model kit and she chooses the exact same ones I was potentially looking to purchase.  LOL!  BrandonK, thank you so very much for always being their and supporting my build threads.

Even without the excursion to Hobby Town USA, just to be with Mrs. Toshi was a blessing.  The two model kits were just a extra topping to a already great day.  This kit has a very good review, I'm sure of it that you'll have fun building the Mossie as well.  Thank you for the read and reply.

I must check in to FineScale and see how Toshi is progressing with the Mossie, I must check in to FineScale and see how Toshi is progressing with the Mossie, I must......

LOL, if I miss a few days you may have it completed!

Just as a reminder Toshi, I may be the slowest kit builder between the ages of 10 and 73 so to see you build up really good looking models as quickly as you do is astonishing to me. It's also lots of fun to check out your builds since I know that you'll have WIP pictures and I love it when I can see lots of works in progress since I learn a bit from many of them.

Very glad you're feeling well. I hope your health continues to improve.

Hi my Friend Toshi,

I am so happy that you are feeling better and got some great Mrs. time.  Its worth every minute of it and no wonder you are feeling so much better.  You got a beautiful woman by your side and surrounded by model airplanes.  As usual, looking forward to seeing these new models evolve into a Toshi masterpiece.

Thank you ScottRC.  It's members like you that motivates me to get things to progress forward.  As usual, with Mrs. Toshi by my side, I'm in great hands.  I've already started assembling the cockpit, photos to follow shortly.  I don't think there will be much work done today as it's Super Bowl Sunday.  LOL!

It's so good to hear that your wife really enjoys helping you with your modeling addiction. Mine couldn't care less

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the Mossie.  I've already done my Monogram 1/48th one, but this kit is far superior.

Do you have a scheme in mind for her yet?

She enjoys in taking part of model making because she can see how happy it makes me feel.  There are times I'm unable to function, that's where she steps in.  I guess for me due to my situation, things are different in my home.  Other than that, we are complete total opposites from one another!  LOL!

To GAF,

I would love to see your Mosquito.  If you have the time, post it here.  I can use that as a reference.  I plan on using 105 Squadron RAF Marham, England 1942.

I don't think I can finish this Mossie in a week.  I ran into some trouble.  Difficult fit and finish with lots of flash.

I'm glad you had a great day Toshi. On your next road trip, check out Depot Train and Hobby upon on W.130th in Cleveland (about a mile north of the I-480 exit). I've been going there for years and it's outstanding. I look forward to your Mossie.

Oh Wow, as a kid I lived off of W.130th street.  I wonder if that is the same hobby shop I remember so fondly. It was across the street from Sears.

From what I see, it has to be that same hobby shop.  To be sure, PM Lawdog114.

Here's an update,

A little rough in some spots with lots of flash.  Seams, misalignment, and lots of cutting.  I do understand it's an older mold as everything has raised lines.  I did my best.  Overall, I'm very happy and had lots of fun, plus this build taught me a lot!
