1/72 HE-111 Finished!

Very, very impressive work on the interior Fermis. It's really quite excellent. Enjoying the fact that your building one of the newer Airfix releases. They seem to have really improved their kits immensely. I certainly see a couple two or three in my stash here right directly.

 

I got a lotta love for the new Airfix stuff. Very little to complain about.

So far, (all 1/72)I've done a couple Harriers, A-4, 5x P-51's, 2x 109's, 3x 190's, Swordfish, EE Lightning, Beaufighter, Typhoon, DO-17, Gloster Gladiator, 2x F-86's, and probably another 2-3 I've forgotten about!

In the stash....(1/72) Stuka, 2x 190's, DO-17, 2x Blenheim, C-47, 2x Swordfish, Gladiator, Typhoon, Defiant, Tigermoth, P-51D, and an older release Sea King.

Only complaint is the very basic detail in the pit, and the plastic itself is a bit on the soft side. Minor complaints on both....but for the price...ya can't beat em!!!

Looking really nice there, i do like the look of the bomb bay. I never realised it was that big, looks like it pretty visible through those windows.

Those "windows" are more like hatches...solid. They will be open though, in the end!

Enjoying all the frustrations on this one again!!!

The kit itself is pretty good...frustration enters when ya gotta chop stuff out and make PE fit where it doesn't want to fit!

How do you get that subtle shading on the interior ribs? Is it a wash or dry brush, or what?

I just can't believe this is 1/72 scale ... It would be incredible for 1/48!

Lastly, when do you plan to crack open the model to further admire your interior work? Will it be on your bucket list?

I suppose that having shown your work on Finescale is enough for many model builders but your work on the interior of this aircraft is so good that it seems a shame it'll be out of view (for the most part) once you've finished.

1. I start with a black "primer"...then highlight/mottle with white. So, basically, all the shading is done in black-n-white...then gets "colorized" with very thin color coats. Then I do a wash...in this case, it was darkened Raw Umber.

2. A "cut away build"???....I won't say NEVER...but I have no intentions of ever doing one, as of right now. I will say, though...I did see a pic of a crashed Hurricane, that had a bunch of fabric ripped off the side...interest in replicating that was peaked! I did actually start one, many, many years ago (AT-6)...I may finish it someday!

So far, I'm enjoying this kit...even with the hassle of dealing with the PE...mainly the back-n-forth between instructions, so I don't miss anything, and the extra mess on the bench! Lots of stuff in the back, that really won't be seen. Oh well...it's fun to do!

Not only is it PE, but it's also a bit of a PITA!!!

 

I can well believe it. I can't believe how well detailed Airfix have gone with that interiour. I had to add the whole floor as well as a lot of the ribbing as well as that box under the window and a few other bit.

Well done Airfix, and at half the price of the Hasegawa kit.

Such skill mate, fantastic. Have this kit on my radar to pick up at Cosford next week. I think this build just sealed it. Will be following along this thread now for tips.
