And judging by the picture, he is well on the way to having a copy of every one of them the Navy ever had in inventory.  And a nice little collection at that.

I'm going to go with Seastallion on this one.  MANY beautiful and powerful fighters mentioned here as well as a few Attack aircraft the Air Force labeled as fighters but, each to their own.  To me, a "real fighter" is single seat, single engine.  There is only one.  The mighty F-8 Cursader.  The Mig Master.  No one ever said "When you're out of Phantoms or Sabers, you're out of fighters" but, it WAS said about the F-8...

3. F-16 Fighting Falcon and F-4E Phantom (Bad to the bone!)

The F2H Banshee is my favorite early generation carrier fighter.

For me its the F9F Panther and the F-100.

My favorites would have to be:

AV-8 Harrier (all versions)

F-100 Super Sabre

F-86 Sabre

F-16 Fighting Falcon

F-4 Phantom II

It's too hard to pick just one...

My squadron was borrowed from the USS Connie back in 1980 from the IKE and i got to see them still operating the RF-8G.That was very awesome.

I dunno, tough question- too many to choose from. I like the looks of the F-15 Eagle, SR-71 Blackbird, F-101 VooDoo, even the F-4 Phantom.

Little surprised no one listed the MiG-25 Foxbat- two gigantic engines with a tiny cockpit in the middle and two stubby wings on the sides- what's not to like?

My favorite is the Grumman F9 Cougar. Looks good in Navy blue or white and orange. To me it just looks perfect!

Most people probably find this next one ugly but from a simple "Its totally BA at what it does perspective" POV, I'm a big fan of the A-10 Warthog...

But if I had the skill and the stomach for it and there was one plane I could take for a joy ride, it would be the F-16...

The F-15. That is just one sexy bad mama jama.

Growing up in the UK, I have to say the Harrier and the Tornado, followed closely by the Jaguar and Phantom!

For me it's the F86.....first jet I ever saw as a kid.

There is something about that airframe......it looks like a fighter.....as kids we'd sit out in the yard in the summer and watch the ANG flying formations and patterns in our area....first one to call out a plane with the gear down was considered a real "eagle-eye".

we're on our way somewhere and we passed a gate guardian, an F-104 D two seater. I've posted the one pic I got, before.

So Jordan had 8 in delivery in May 1967, but they were "detained" in Turkey I think is how the story goes.
