I would propbaly jump in on this. I only have a couple of GB's to finish off, so i would not be over commiting. I have a 1/48th EF-111 i have to finish by the Xmas club meet in Dec, so would probably go with that.

OK,Ok, I read the above post and said:

So, I called my ex-wife, and asked her if she wanted to get married again. She said "no way". Therefore, I know that hell did not freeze over. My only other guess is that the eight wonder of the world just happened, because Bish just entered a Modern jet GB, and with none other than a 1/48 scale plane!! Big Smile

Sorry, Bish, just took me by surprise when I saw your post!

BrandonK, I think this GB is a go!

Naw- just a double dip to add incentive to get the sparkvark done for the Christmas party...Toast   Bow Down

Tentativly I'd be in, but have 2 GB's to finish and a 3rd coming up.  If I commit it would be with Tam's 1/32 F4D with resin office and suite of PE along with a decal set for 67-463

Well that sounds very interesting. I have a bunch of Century Series jets in the stash.

I was thinking with this build it might be worth noting that early jets would fit the bill. SO, if someone has a Me-262 or Gloster Gladiator, etc., it would be welcome. I think the only limit would be that it can't be piston powered. Heck, even a modern solar powered bird would fit.

So, any scale, military or civilian. Turbine, turbofan, turboprop, jet or solar, no piston engines. Any era provided it fits the "no piston" engines. It must be self propelled also, so gliders don't fit either.

I think what most of us would build would be modern jet fighters, but there is room for some other kits as well.

Thanks BK, I didn't think so. I would probably stick with the tornado in Italian markings.

Steve, I would love to see and build a flying garbage truck, but I think the nature of this build needs to be turbine or jet powered AC and no piston driven stuff. A turboprop would just fit the bill however.

blkhwkmatt, I'm not certain of the time frame so one year is not in stone, a year and a half I think sounds resonable as we don't see as many peeps building jets here. More time would help that and many of those kits are larger and more complicated and need more time as well.

I'd like to have more input from some more members before pushing ahead.

That does sound interesting.  I have several that I could choose from, just have to get the Luft '46 build completed (by that I mean started) first.

Would suggest perhaps June 1, 2016 until Dec 31, 2017?  Adds time so that there would not have to be any sanctioned extensions.

I have plenty of modern jets to pick from.  Off the top of my head I might enter with a 1/48 F-16C painted as a 354th aggressor bird from Eielson AFB.

Maybe, I wouldn’t start on anything until next year though. No idea what though. Maybe an FA-18 or Tornado. I don’t think I have anything else jet related unless it’s an airliner. I’ve been wanting to purchase and build a Vet Nam Sandy, but I don’t know if that would fall within your criteria.

I'm really interested in a modern aircraft GB, but, I'm not going to commit until I have a few other GB completed. An end date of May 31, 2017 does give plenty of time to join later and complete.

I could be interested.  I've been eyeing the Academy F-35 in my stash for a while now.

Modern GB Feeler?
Posted by BrandonK on Thursday, April 14, 2016 12:41 PM

I know most of us build almost exclusively prop aircraft, but I have several kits of more modern birds and I am seriously getting the bug to build some. I'm thinking a GB might make this more intersting and fun. Perhaps A/C from the mid 60's to current, Vietnam era birds like the F-105, F-4, Migs, etc to more current ones like the F-14, Mig-29, Harrier, etc., you get the idea. I personally have a new F-111D I really want to build so I am open to ideas.

So, that being said, is anyone intersted in such an adventure? I'm thinking about running it from June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2017.
