Gamera

You're making great progress!

Funny about almost mounting the cockpit backwards I used to play an old flight simulator years ago (probably twenty or so) called 'Aces of the Pacific' and the Shinden was in the expansion World War II: 1946. Took me awhile to deal with them since leading the target you shoot ahead of the enemy plane but since it looks like it's flying backwards I always ended up shooting way behind it instead of in front!

That's very funny!  LOL!  As I assemble the Shinden, I keep in mind that I'm building a gyro copter from the James Bond movie; "You Only Live Twice".  The frame looks just like it.  This helps me focus in the correct direction, of which is backwards not forwards.  LOL!

Looks good Tosh, you  are well on your way.

Thank you my friend!  I don't think I'm well on my way.  LOL!  I just had some minor issues with installing the 4 cannons.  Oh well.  Anyway, thanks for visiting!

To my fellow forum members,

Although this does not have the intricate detail like the Zoukei Mura Ho 229, it's still a handful.  The glue points are so minuscule, I feel like drilling it out larger but I know not to do that.  Thank you all for visiting!

An update for today.  I think it looks really strange with the engine mount in the rear.  I almost mounted the cockpit backwards.  I think?  I don't know.  LOL!

Here is a little more progress in regards to the engine.  This was the attachment of the drive shaft.

Very cool!!! You're pushing me to pull out my kit and start on it!

Do it Gamera!  I want to see your great WIP!  By the way have you started the 1:32 Tamiya Zero?

Toshi

Lol Toshi, I started on the big Zero at the first of the year. Here six months later I'm just finishing up the cockpit! Partly that's from where a nice guy sent me a link to an article about fixing a few small issues here and there with the kit. Partly it's from a lost part.

Still I have no excuse to be moving this slowly. I could learn a lot from you about actually getting stuff done! Embarrassed

No Sir!  I'm the last person to learn anything from! LOL!  LOL!  You're the man.

Thank you sir, The 2,130 hp Mitsubishi MK9D (Ha-43) and its supercharger were installed behind the cockpit and drove a six-bladed propeller via an extension shaft.  It was said that the engine was so powerful that it caused vibrations due to torque.

My surprise should be ready sometime this week 1943Mike, I think you will all like it.  I hope?  LOL!  Thank you sir for your vigil and inquiries, you always excite and inspire me to move forward.  I can only try to do my best.

Toshi,

Nice work on the engine. As usual, I'll enjoy following this build of yours.

Slightly off topic, when are you receiving your "neat little surprise" so you can post final pictures of your Ho 229?

I'm sure I'll enjoy watching you build this one.  As you said, a very unique aircraft.

I have never seen such an aircraft from that era.  Thank you for following!

Simular to the Dornier Arrow, but just a pusher rather than an push/pull.

Knowing your work, you will have her done inside of a week and the envy of us all with the craftmanship.

Yes, so true.  I completely agree sir!  I don't know about a week, I've been slowing down lately, bad back.  You are too kind with your words, it is I that wish my builds to be as good as yours as well as forum members.  Thanks for the visit!

Here on this beautiful Sunday afternoon, I decided to AB these engine pieces and document it for your viewing.  I'll start the assembly here in an hour or so.
