That free hand work looks very nice and the kit is really looking quite stunning. Your skills continue to improve with each build. Very nice work, Toshi.

Here is my completed F-22 Raptor.  There were no fit issues nor flash.  Everything went together fine, I also did not need any putty work to be done.  Next to no sanding, except the front seam area needed a quick rub of a nail file and all was good.  Unlike the F-104 Starfighter, the paint stuck to the aircraft without coming off with Tamiya/Frog tape.

I utilized the same process in painting the F-104 and applied it to the F-22.  Why did the F-104 paint peeled with the tape is a mystery.  I definately would highly recommend this kit!  Yes, it was that simple without any issues to assemble and extremely fun as well!

I'm for Langley "FF" as I retired from the USAF there and was getting my hand on working the F-22 and if the tail numbers are correct, I touched that jet.  But that is my $0.02, you are the modeler, your choice. Wink

Hey, Toshi -

Well, let's see. No fit issues, no flash, no putty, little sanding, no paint lifting by tape. How is there any fun in a build like that? Jeepers, if I can't enjoy many hours correcting kit problems, I don't feel like I'm getting my moneys worth.

You should ask for a refund.

Really nice job, the finish looks great and the camo came out just fine. Your freehanding is impressive, I'm so shaky I feel lucky if just a little of the paint gets on the model.

Thanks for the WIP and photos.

To mississippivol,

Thank you very much for always following my builds.  I know they are not as good in quality like most of the builds in other threads.  I'm most honored!

To Mikeym_US and XF-15DCC,

Thank you both for protecting and serving this country!  I want to thank you both for following, reading, and replying on my threads.  XF-15DCC, as promised the tail number of this F-22 Raptor is the same one that you worked on.  I'm honored to build this kit for your time in service.

LOL!  No this was not a real Revell/Monogram kit!  LOL!  It was an imposter!  LOL!  This actually built up like a Hasegawa/Tamiya kit.  Not really but it was real close!

The free hand was planB, planA was to use blue tac but I screwed that up!  LOL!  Once I determined that free hand AB would be the program that day, my hands were not shaking.  I waited for two days for my hands to stop shaking.  It's one of the medications that does this to me.

I normally just take half until I can calm down.  Sometimes, I feel like I need two shots of Jack Daniels (Single Barrel or Gentle Men's Jack) to chill out, but Mrs. Toshi refuses to let me drink and take medications at the same time.  Yes, I have a very good wife that's got my back!  Thanks for everything, I hope my build did you the honor XF-15DCC!

She's another winner there Toshi. I love how well the camo came out, frankly I don't think it could have been better if you'd masked it. Yes

Thanks Gamera!  At first I thought I screwed up the camoflauge as it just didn't look right.  After the gloss, decals, and the flat coat, it came together.  I still want to try the blue tac as I've never built or painted a model like that.  That should be interesting!

Have you used blue tac and if so, what kind of special technique is involved?  Thank you in advance!

Well I'm impressed! Very well done, Toshi!  :D:D:D:D

Thank you M. Brindos.  On another subject, Mrs. Toshi and I went to Hobby Lobby to look into the 262/Stuka kit you recommended.  What caught Mrs. Toshi's eye was a Academy 1/72 P-51 Mustang.  It's depicted in OD w/Invasion stripes.  It was on sale for or at around $6.00.  So she picked that kit instead.  Thanks for the heads up on the 262/Stuka kit.  I still want to get it!

Toshi, I've used Blu-tac a little but not much. I tend to use Silly Putty for more or less the same thing. It seems less sticky and it's much cheaper if you're going to use a large amount of it. So far I've only used it on tanks but it should work the same on aircraft.

Yes, it's the same stuff that comes in an egg that's sold to kids: On the right in the photo:

I just pull off pieces and attach it to the model where I want it masked. It's low tack and seems to leave no residue behind.

I made it to Langley in 99. I started with 1st OSS and then went to the 1st AMXS

Thank you Gamera, the photos are great for me to replicate this technique.  I'll try silly putty as well!

It's two JDAM GBU-32 with a pair of AIM-120 AMRAAM Missiles.  You are correct in that the JDAM GBU-32 is a 2000lb.-er.
