Eduard 72nd F6F-3 Complete Page 2
Posted by Bish on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 2:59 PM

I have a bit of time to kill while i wait for supplies to finish my panzerwerfer. So i thoguht i would fill the tie with a quick little OOB build. This is not my usual type of subject, but was a nice gift from a great friend and its nice to do somthing differant now and again. I have heard really nice things about the new Eduard kits, and while i have a few, this is the first i have built. Looks a great little kit with a nice PE fret and some nice decal options.

I started on Sunday with the pit, putting some of it together but leaving a few bits off for painting.

After a coat of primer and interiour green, i did some light weathering, just a flory pin wash and dry brushing and got all the coloured PE parts fitted.

And with that, the pit was fitted, fuselage halves joined and wings added. This has gone together great and i haven't used any filler as yet.

I primed the wheel wells egtting ready to paint them befopre masking and doing the underside. But then i realised that they will be white as we as the bottom of the aircraft, so i won't have to mask those.

Also got the engine together, painted wirth Alclad and a bit of weathering.

Thanks for looking, more soon.

Thnaks Max. As i always say, its what i am used to, and to be far, most of the detail is PE.

Good to see a WIP from you, Bish.

Is this the first Eduard kit you've built? I can't quite tell from your comment.

Thanks Greg. I did buld one of their WW1 kits last year, but that was an older one with not much detail. This is the first of their most recent kits i have built.

Great start on this Bish! The cockpit and engine look great. Have to admit I'm surprised to see something non-German on the bench. I'll agree with you that it's nice to switch things up every once in awhile.

Thanks for looking in guys.

Bruce, yes it is. And what's more, i have to buy some paint for the scheme, unusual for me not to have it to hand.

Impressive, especially for that scale.

Sharp work there on the cockpit. And gee friggin' whiz, I have big enough problems with 1/48th and 1/32nd PE seatbelts, you're a better man than I to handle them in 1/72nd!!!

BTW: You do know you have to build a Zero to go with her now right? Wink

Thanks G. These belts were pretty easy. The shoulder straps were one piece and the lap belts just two each. I have had 72nd PE belts were i had to assemble the whole thing.

A Zero, now that would be differant. I think i could handle that. As long as i don't have to buld the one starting in S, i don't mind.

WOO HOO!!! Just when things seem a might bit bleak in the world her comes Bish building a USN fighter. Aww, things are much better now that there is true harmony.Big Smile I couldn't be any prouder. Kidding aside, You are doing an awesome job on the Hellcat Bish. Glad you are enjoying the Eduard kit because, well, there is everything to enjoy about it. It is simply a beautiful Hellcat kit. As you may recall, I just recently finished that same kit and it was pure joy to build. I hope this opens the door to some more PTO builds from you. I know in my heart that you would really enjoy building a USN aircraft in the tri-color scheme. Welcome to the even darker side my friend.

P.S. You KNOW I'll be following this.

fightnjoe, thank you very much.

Joe R, o ye, i forgot about that, just went backed and checked your pics. It is indeed a great kit, i have primed it and got the undersides painted and i did use one single bit of filler.

I did do a PTO P-61 last year and i do have a PV-1 in the stash. So it definatly won't be my last. they have all been gifts, but you never now, i might actally buy one myself, i do like the Corsair.

I had the exact same thought when I looked at those seatbelts, then neglected to comment.

Harmony in the world. Ha ha, Rix. Big Smile

So what does PTO stand for?
