Toshi .

I have to reply here too . Since my accident years ago and age , My hands have minds of their own sometimes . Doc says it's not surprising considering the damage and the years .

Recommendation Here . Don't ring your bell so hard you lose two years of memories . Came back , But was always warned about cumulative damage as I got older . T.B.     P.S.We build Models so--- We are on top of things , and yes , there is a Med that can help you . Just make sure the side effects don't damage something important !

I won't ring my bell again, to the best of my abilities.  As for medication, Mrs. Toshi Always asks the question and makes sure no harm comes to me.  Thank you sir for the support, kindness, read and reply!

In my next process, I'll be priming the little Corsair.  Once I deem that my sanding of the seams have been done properly I'll spray the first coat on.  All of the paints will be from Vallejo.  Then I can button up my build, thank you all so much for the support you've given me, I am so happy!

To PlasticJunkie,

Thank you for your heartfelt concern.  You're very kind, Mrs. Toshi and I are now doing fine.  Your tip on the application of the tricolor paint scheme is very useful and has brought back confidence in myself.  I'm going to attempt to spray the little Corsair's tricolor free hand.  Wish me luck.  Thank you so much for your continued support in my WIP builds, this means so very much to me and I so enjoy our conversations.  Thank you PlasticJunkie!

M. Brindos

I both love, and hate this kit. I love it because its a cherished childhood memory and I got to build it again as an adult and built it the way I had always dreamed of. But hate it because it faught me almost all of the way to the finish lol.

Good job on it so far, Toshi. :)

That's an interesting story about this little Corsair.  So far, it hasn't fought me as of yet, and all I did was lightly sand down some seams.  I did have a ton of flash which took more time to remove than I expected and oh yah, I forgot!  The tail wouldn't want to align properly so I did some surgery and got it straight with some CA.  So it did want to fight me within a small bout but I killed it with a KO!  LOL!

This is the first kit I've built in which there is no cockpit and that area is closed.  But that's ok, just to have this Corsair back means very much to me!  Thank you so much M.Brindos for your continued support in my WIP builds.  Just to know you're there brings me great joy and happiness!  Thank you for everything!

Sorry to hear about your incident and hope all is ok with your health.

Tri colors are no different than any other scheme so don't be intimidated. Shoot the lighter colors first and then go the the next blue shade and the darker one last. This method reduces paint use as in a lighter color trying to cover a darker one. Silly putty is easily formed as a masking agent to give you clean and even demarcation lines.

A few things I just realized, there are no parts numbers Indifferent and there are markings for "Pappy" Boyington's Lulubelle/Lucybelle Big Smile.  The only challenge I have is that after my episode/incident, my hands are not moving properly.

Painting Boyington's VMF 214 skyblue, white, and intermediate blue, will definately be a challenge for me as I've never AB a tricolor paint scheme in 1/72 before.  Uh oh Tongue Tied.

Thank you for the kind thoughts!  I'll definately recover, I think they found a medication that will stop my seizures, I can't wait.  Thank you for visiting this WIP thread.

roony

A speedy recovery to you.   This kit will not take long, with the low parts count.

Thank you so much Roony.  I suspect it'll take longer for the paint to dry than to assemble this kit!  LOL!  Thank you for the read and reply!

XF-15DCC

Sorry to heare about your seizure and the F-4U-1 being damaged, I hope all is well. Respectfully what a story! I'm sure this F4U will come out just as good or even better!

With the combo of bad luck (the seizure) and good luck (your Dr handing you another F4U) maybe you should play the lottery!

Happy building!

Kevin

By the way, this is the very first kit that I've seen bagged like this.  It did surprise me at first yet, all the parts were in pristine condition and still attached to the spruces after sitting at the bottom of a file cabinet crushed under paper work!  LOL!

Completed Testors Classic 1/72 F4U-1 Corsair
Posted by Toshi on Friday, August 12, 2016 7:04 PM

To my fellow forum members,

Thank you all for you support, you've helped me grow physically and spiritually!  I love this hobby so much.

Last week, I had a seizure.  During this episode, I somehow destroyed my Academy 1/72 F4U-1 Corsair.  The next day when I came to and realized what had happened, I was devastated.  Needless to say, I put this behind me.  This past Monday, I had my bi-monthly therapy at MENTIS.  Before I left, my therapist said she had something for me to see.  In a file cabinet, (This kit had been in the file cabinet under a bunch of stuff and the box was smashed.  Get this, it had been sitting in the cabinet for years.) she pulled out this kit and told me it was mines to keep.

I cried like a baby for half an hour!  You see, a year and a half ago, this was my very first kit that I built after a forty year haitus.  This kit is what got me rabidly insane for model kits.  Not only did this touch my heart but to have my Academy 1/72 Corsair destroyed by me during my seizure and to immediately have this kit given to me is nothing short of a miracle.

So with a renewed sense of excitement, I hope that forum members will be excited and follow this little Corsair that was sent from heaven!
