Toshi

To BrandonD,

Thank you sir!  I'm glad you like my collection.  I had a hard time to make room for my aircraft.  I recall seeing a FSM Forum member with his/her collection hanging on a wall.  That's where I got my idea from!  Thanks for the visit!

Toshi

Yeah, I am having that problem, too. Idon't want an air force taking over my house, so aside from the tops of bookshelves, I have others just sitting in cabinets in the garage. Maybe I'll bring a few to my office (probably not Luftwaffe ones). But maybe a garage wall can be made into something like you've got.

Toshi, what a great build!  Love the finish.  I like the P-38.  Just looks mean!  Spectacular!

Your Wall of Plane is awesome!  You have some great builds there!

Great job Toshi!  I have a few of the same aircraft, finished, and in the stash that you have hanging up on your wall.  You need to add a C-130!Wink

Thank you so much Keyda81!  That's very cool that you have some of the same kits built or in your stash.  I really don't have a stash, I'd like to get a stash but I build kits way too quick due to my over zealous excitement and need to slow down!  LOL!  Thanks for your support and visit to my build threads.

Great job on that natural metal finish, and I love your Wall of Planes. When I first saw it, my inital reaction was, "Thank goodness Ohio doesn't have earthquakes!"Big Smile

Thank you Jim Barton. It took me awhile to figure out how to display my collection in a way that's interesting yet space saving.

LOL!  I'm glad I don't live in California!  The Toshi family used to live in Palm Springs and we had our fare shares of earthquakes.  LOL!

Although in Streetsboro, Ohio we have our shares of Tornado warnings!  Thank you Mr. Jim Barton for your support and visit to my WIP threads!

Looks great Toshi! Your build has inspired me to push my kit (Eduard Pacific Lightnings) toward the top of my to do list.

Thank you 1943Mike!  I'd love to see your build as a WIP.  I've seen and read several reviews on your kit and they are all positive.  This kit is really great, thanks for the visit!

Hi Toshi. I got the Vallejo Metal Color Aluminum, and ordered their gloss black primer. Based on your recommendation, I will be trying this out on a plastic bottle before I tackle a model to get a sense of how it sprays. I have two old Monograms that will need NMF (P51 with bubble canopy and a P47). It's going to be a while, as my progress on the FW 190 is glacially slow, and my next build will likely be an old Tamiya Panzer II. I really like your wall of fame. I can see a couple of builds I followed while you were doing them.

Wow, that's so great.  It's a fantastic product if you prep the surface correctly and shoot the product through the AB at low PSI.  If you have any questions please feel free to PM me.  Good luck and post your builds.

Gamera

Oh wow she came out nice Toshi! I too love the NM and those decals look like a pain. Glad to see you whipped them into shape.

And awesome photos of the wall with all your work. Yes

Arigato Gamera.  Yes, the NMF came out nicely although I had some minor issues here and there.  The decals for Academy kits are a headache.  It's very hard to conform the decals especially to a radius.  That's why I use Tamiya Extra Thin Cement for the decals.  I got that technique from M.Brindos.  Thanks for the visit!

Another well done model, Toshi. I really like your decal work. I picked up some metal color aluminum for a couple of future builds, and am looking forward to trying it out. I also really like the tri-color rings on the props. How did you do that, mask or free hand? The PE on the turbochargers is a very nice enhancement. You must be running out of space to display these beauties! Dwayne (my friends call me Dman)

This is the wall behind my bench.  I still have a lot of room to display my models.  I think?  LOL!  Mrs. Toshi calls this my wall of planes.  Not hall of fame, LOL!

Beautiful,Toshi.

Thank you jeaton01.  I ran into some serious gap issues but I was able to fix things with some Tamiya putty and some grades of sandpaper.  Thank you sir for your support.

Thank you Dman!  I really enjoy utilizing aluminum and chrome for NMF aircraft.  I keep hearing about Alclad II.  I do know that Alclad is a lacquer based paint.  But that's all I know about Alclad, I'm very interested in using this product.  I've definately have to try that one day.  What brand (Testors, Model Master, Vallejo, Tamiya?) aluminum did you purchase.

Maybe it's just me but all of the Academy decals are tough to deal with.  They are on the thicker side.  I have to use Tamiya Extra Thin Cement to lay it down properly.  This technique can be difficult at best.  The tri-color prop is actually decals.  They were a PITA to deal with.  Whoa!  Lots of adjustments were needed to fix the prop decals on.

Cutting, sanding, and forming the turbochargers were a challenge as it was really thin.  I had to be very delicate with the turbochargers.  As for the PE on the turbochargers, they are as you mentioned a very nice enhancement to the kit itself.  In fact the Eduard Brassin AM kit was well worth the cost and effort.

I just moved from a three bedroom condo to a two bedroom condo, so space is a premium.  I hang my models on the wall.  Thank you sir for this conversation and support in my projects, I greatly appreciate it!

That's a really nice finish Toshi! I really like the look of your NMF

Thank you sir!  The finish is a new product for me. I used this only twice and I do like the NMF look the Vallejo Crome paint sprays and covers the subject at hand.  Thank you so much for your support, read, and replies!

Here is the finally finished Academy 1/48 P-38 Lightning "Putt Putt Maru".  As for a recommendation in regards to this kit, I highly recommend this kit.  But I would definately as an enhancement purchase the Eduard Brassin Kit.   It lights up the Academy kit.  Anyway, it's time to start my next kit, the Academy 1/72 TBF Avenger. Thank you for the visit my friends.

Nice build!  I really like the color scheme on this one.Yes

Mike

Thank you Buckeye.  At first I thought it was a bit too busy, but then I fell in love with the color scheme.  I went on line and have seen the real rebuilt "Putt Putt Maru" in a museum of sorts and it looks really cool!  Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it!

Bish

Thats looking realy nice there Toshi. You did a great job with that yellow strip around the black. Real nice.

Thank you Bish!  The yellow stripe was the easiest.  It was redoing the blackout's that were the most painstaking process that took great patience especially at 3:00am!  LOL!  But it was bugging me that it was incoreect hence I had a hard time sleeping.  I just had to fix it now.

I'm glad I did as it came out great and I'm very pleased as a whole with the outcome.  Thank you for always supporting my builds, I greatly appreciate it.
