1/32 Revell Fw 190 F-8 (FINISHED...)

Hello all, well a work related injury has kept me away from the bench for awhile and I must admit the hiatus was much needed.  I'm finally back to the bench and I figured I'd share my latest, which is my second large scale subject, the new tooled Revell Fw 190 F-8.  It's my understanding that the F-8 model was basically an A-8 that was converted for use in ground attack, essentially a replacement for the obsolete Stuka.  I believe visual differences were deleted outboard wing cannons and bomb racks bolted on underneath the wings.  It could carry a beefcake-sized bomb centerline too.  I will be doing the cover art subject "Black 6" of SG 10.  The only addition will be the Eduard Brassin cockpit designed for this particular kit.  Please join me in this endeavor.

I started with the Brassin pit.  The detail was a vast improvement over the kits example.  I used Gunze RLM 66 for the pit. I must admit I'm really enjoying detail painting in the larger scale.

I really liked the instrument panel.  Eduard offers individual dial decals which snuggle right in with a bit of Micro Sol.  Normally I'd add a drop of 5 minute epoxy to the dials, but I didnt want to obstruct the beauty.

On this kit, you need to install the tail wheel before closing the fuselage, so this needed attention first. I set the 'pit aside and turned my attention to everything that was to be painted the color of the tail wheel....RLM 02.  I ran out of Gunze RLM 02, so I made my own concoction. I started with XF-22 RLM Grey then added two drops of XF-49 Khaki, two drops of XF-57 Buff, and one drop of XF-19 Sky Grey.  I actually like it better than Gunze and will use this formula from now on.  This is what I came up with.

I hope to button this up soon.
