There is a LOT to this kit...probably too much.

Starting with the engines...nothing beyond the first fan will be seen. 27 pieces each...all of 3 of them will ever be seen.

Totall of 66 parts, each.

Zoukei Mura makes some of the most amazing kits.  The Jumo engines looks awesome.

Wonder if it would be possible to display one of the engines with the case half uncovered or removable, to show the compressor/turbine section wheels with blades? Agree, those are some impressive details, shame to not allow visible access to the engine interior of one.

So much detail to be covered up... it almost begs for a cutaway build!

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

It will be...to some degree. One wing and engine exposed.

Yes...not a lot of fun had, lots of hours spent on nothing more than cleaning up the mold lines on these parts. Then, place a part and test fit the next few parts to make sure things will line up down the road. The top frame piece(hat goes on after the engines) has 40 some-odd contact points with the lower frame and engines. Ya think lining up a top wing of a biplane is PITA with 4 contact points...Indifferent

Finally got some more work done. Phase 2 is finished up. The left wing will have the structure exposed, and everything that is wood, will be painted as "wood"...going with a half-n-half sorta thing.

"Phase 3" will be the pit.

Might be easier to build up the Saturn launch tower!

You are doing a great job on this very detailed kit.  Watching with interest as I have this in my stash as well.  I plan on using the Uschi wood grain decals for the finish, they released a set specifically for this kit.

Keep up the great work.

"Phase 3"...probably the smallest "phase"...is done...

Here's something stupid.

They go through all the trouble to give you all this great detail....and there's separate engine covers for only the dumb end of the engine, and leave the smart end covered up...the end that has the most detail. Looks like I'll be doing some cutting and modification here.

Excellent work so far.

I'm watching your build as I have the 1/48 kit in my stash and I plan to build it this year.

Beautiful work Fermis !

That front cover is kindof a big part - but have you thought of doing that funky plunge forming thing that you do ?

Looks neat, Jeremy.  I'm syre you'll find an elegant way to show off the smart end.

By the way, every time I see that box art I resent that bat wing trying to hurt the Lancaster!  I'm a little protective of Lancasters just lately.

Been back with this one...been a little too long!

Just a quick update...

Starting the "wood"!

Finished up the left wing bottom, and a small section of the top half...going with a "cut away" look.

Still have to "wood" the framing...that will be less than fun....and add the rest of the details, but ya can see where it's going...

Modified the port side, so that the whole engine can be shown off...

You know, I picked up one of these at the Modelmania IPMS show in Houston a couple of years ago and I still remember opening the box for the very first time. It was everything I expected from ZM really and I think this is about as close to assembling the real thing in scale as one can imagine. I don't think much was left out of the kit.

Your doing your typical amazing work on this one Fermis. Looking forward to seeing the progress on it.

Spectacular job on those engines and their surroundings. Paint and weathering look real.

Is that "wood" the decals I saw a few weeks back here? Looking good....

Yes...yes I did!...

That was all paint though. Pic is a bit blown out and doesn't show the "wood" grain at all though.
