Your build looks great.  I saw your comments on the weakness of the folding wing in the model and it reminded me of a 1/32 Revell Coarsair that I built when I was younger.  On that model the wing fold was very week (though it may have been inpart due to my limited building skills at the time).  For it I just left the wings permanently folded up, so that it would take up less space on my shelf, since it was such a big model.

First and foremost I would like to thank you for all the contributions that you have made to this forum.  With me being a noob to the hobby your posts on various builds (P-51, P-47M) and techniques (painting cockpits, wiring a radial engine) have helped me immensely and there is no doubt my builds have benefitted greatly because of it...  The fact that you take time out of your day to help someone like me is greatly appreciated.

As always a work of art! It never ceases to amaze me how you can achieve not only consistent excellence but with every build you seem to surpass the previous one. It doesn't seem to matter whether or not the kit is a "dud". You always seem to make a high quality build.  If I could have just 10% of your consistent excellence. I'm finally done.  She's dressed up in the VMA-214 markings of Boyington's #740, or at least one of the planes he was known to use.  I used Montex masks for the main markings and Eduard resin wheels, as I didn't like the rubber wheels.  Other than the issues I had with the attachment of the wings, it was a dream..........definitely in my top three.  I wanted to depict her around the time this famous picture was taken, as she wasn't too beat up yet.  

I couldn't decide whether I wanted to add the gun and fuel tank white tape.  I've seen Corsairs with and without one or both.  I ultimately decided to forego them on this build.  I might add them on the upcoming Jolly Rogers Corsair.

The figure came with the kit.  It's average and nothing special.  Certainly not one of my best efforts but you'll have that I guess.  I normally paint my faces with Testor's enamels and have a few shades I use.  It's been a while since I've used them.  The drybrushing on the face ended up being a little heavy and it "bleached out" a bit.  I may go back and repaint that part..........or I might not.    

I can no longer resist the Airfix P-40, so that will be next with Neale's AVG markings.

Awesome build, Lawdog.  You are an artist without doubt. Your "spectacular" paint should actually be "specular" and I think it refers to the amount of sparkle and light reflectance which the paint exhibits.  Non specular would be a dead flat matt with no sheen at all. I think this is correct and hope it is of value to you.  Keep up the good work.
