I took pics with and without flash to capture different details.  The pics with flash make the interior green real bright and the tire weathering on the treads stand out.  In person the green is not that bright and the tread weathering is not that intense.

I took these pics with my cell as my light box is at work.  I will take better pics in the light box.  Thanks for taking a look!

That looks REALLY GOOD!!! If I have to critique anything, your interior green color is a bit too bright for my taste, but that's about it. The build, paint work, and weathering all look "just right".

And perhaps a little more weathering on the tire sidewalls to match the tread area.

The nose glazing looks thick, couldn't you have thinned it a bit to scale? Kidding of course!

What a great build of a venerable kit & subject - please post pics of the model and base.

I really enjoyed this one.  Only issue was the fuselage was warped and twisted the tail.  I cut the tail off and reattached it inline. She started as a free kit that was half started. I added some etch, resin, scratch and extra decals.  I may build a small base to place her on for the show coming in September. Click pics to enlarge

I'm at the home stretch on this one.  I should have this A-20 done in the next few days.  Here is what hopefully will be the last WIP pics.  Just a hand full of small bits to add.

I will post up the weathering when I get it going.  Nothing fancy on the weathering for this one.  Mostly will be a sludge wash followed by some dry brushing to highlight the edges and to give the decals a little wear.  

I will do a little chipping using a bit of the foam you can see in the previous pics that fills the wheel bay.  I dip the foam in silver paint, pat most of the paint away on a piece of paper then pat the foam on front wing edges, cowls and props.  A little by where the pilot would get into the cockpit.

The tires will be washed in some earth color oils since these would take off and land at dirt run ways.

depending on what I see if reference pics I may spray a bit of tamiya buff in the appropriate places to give it a little dusty look.  Oh and cant forget some exhaust stains I will do with a mix of airbrush and pastel chalk powder.

I built that kit a few years ago. A little Spartan on the detail compared to say a Hasegawa or Tamiya but otherwise great quality. I remember almost no fit problems or issues. 

That is looking phenomenal.  Very interested to see the weathering.  Also very interested in your weathering process if you don't mind sharing.

Hopefully it's repairable Jay Jay.  Perhaps a candidate for a battle damage diorama or field repair diorama.

Ty for the offer to help me with the fix but no, it's not a warpage issue. It looks as if a molten sprue was laid on the plastic burning through in spots and is about a 3 inches long and 1/4 inch wide scar melted into the fsg.

Thanks guys, your comments keep me going on this build.  The invasion stripes were actually not that bad to mask off.  For the upper and lower wing stripes I used the middle size tamiya tape, 10MM I think. 

Same for the tail and upper/lower fuselage.  The kit came with a decal for the tail.  I scanned and printed the decal sheet, cut out the decal copy for the tail and from there it was easy to get the tape in the right place using the copy as a guide.  

To get the 1/4 circle that hugs the top of the insignia decals I cut the copy of the decals i printed and taped that on top of a piece of tamiya tape.  Cut out the curve free hand then placed in the proper postion based on where the decal would eventually go.

Jay Jay, how bad is the issue with your kit?  It is a warp in the fuselage that is twisting the tail out of center?  If so I had the same issue and was able to correct it without to much hassle.  Let me know and I can walk you through the fix.

Wow, your Havoc looks great! Love the Texas nose art (native Texan here) and the invasion striping.

The A-20 was the second kit I built when I returned to this hobby back in 1995. In those days I was motivated by a couple of factors - was it a subject that I had never before build (during my childhood years) and once I had a kit, where could I display it? So with limited space, I chose to build it wheels up and hang from the ceiling. It is the oldest surviving build that I have (a notorious shelving accident back in 2007 took out most of my early builds from the late 90s), and it hangs in my workshop ceiling along with other US medium and heavy bombers. With much more room these days, I would really like to build another Havoc with the wheels down. Maybe I will go find one of these kits some day...

I second the comment on gorgeous !  I love the paint job you did with the invasion stripes etc.

i have the same kit, but there is a terrible mold defect in the aft port side fsg and I have yet to figure out how to fix it. i contacted the mfg and they essentially said tough luck, kit's too old to get replacement parts for.

This is phenominal! I would never guess this was an AMT kit if you hadn't said so. This build is just gorgeaous so far. I love it!  :)

The aftermarket decals came in and what difference.  Much thinner then the kit decals.  Got the stars and bars and call letters on.  Tomorrow, time permitting I will get a seal coat on over the decals and then my favorite part or modeling, weathering!

Small update.  Decals are 90% done.  Ordered aftermarket stars and bars insignia and lettering decals as kit decals are too thick. Once they arrive I can finish the decaling and seal them in and get to weathering.

Also used the Foxbot sheet for all the stenciling, prop and other decals.  Only used the tail numbers, Texas below cockpit and a few other small decals from the kit sheet.

Did a quick search on ebay Drifter, and saw B-C-G-and J versions for sale, all in new or like new condition floating around 25-35 in price with shipping within the USA.  Even some P-70 versions.
