This kit has fit issues.  Every single piece no matter how small needs to be dry fitted.  I don't even have to do that with a Revell kit.  Wow!  So for those of you out there with or potentially purchasing this kit, be very carefully dry fitting every single piece.

Toshi

P.S.  The Bronco and the Airacobra by Kitty Hawk is night and day to this kit!

With adding the Big Ed PE, it really enhances the kit itself.  Here're an example of the pilots seat.

Bummer.  This is a kit I've been considering adding to my stash, but I've seen similar reports on other Kittyhawk kits that has prevented me from acquiring those. I may still get their Kingfisher, as it has long been a favorite of mine.

It definately has it's issues.  Dry fitting and opening up attachment points have been problems for me.  It takes me longer to assemble and build this kit.  But overall, if you're a Kingfisher fan, go for it.

Like I mentioned, this kit is challenging yet when I fit things together, it's fulfilling!  I too am a Kingfisher fan, I can see my progress and the final product.

Thank you for the comments, and read and reply!

Thank you for the kind comments.  I so enjoy working with PE.  It's not that difficult, you just have to take your time and what helps me is to use a magnavisor or cheap glasses from Walmart that are the power of x3.  Thank you for the support and read and reply!

I'm very excited for your son in building the Monogram/Revell P-61.  It's a classic!  I must have built that kit twice as a child and once as an adult.  As an adult, it was my first WIP kit with PE and resin sets after a 40 year hiatus.

Looking back now it was a disaster yet a great learning experience and a step up into this wonderful hobby.  Most importantly, it was sharing my WIP with this fantastic community here at FSM Forums.  Everyone pointed me in the right direction and continues to help me grow.

I look extremely forward to your sons WIP here!  I can't wait!  Good luck to you and your son and thank you for your support!

Oh, c'mon, Toshi. That kit is so out of shape anymore, and you were up against a seriously challenging build with your first use of PE. You did an amazing job considering the difficulty level you started with.

You came in, guns a blazing, shouting "come at me bro!" and you did a fine job on that build. You finished it and went straight into another. You are a model building, butt kickin' warrior my friend.

So give yourself a little credit. There isn't a member here who doesn't like watching you build. Stick out tongue

Hi Toshi,

Ufff ... you have a huge amount of "row material" to build a model. These two models are really nice. The Kingfisher is one of my favorites ... i love the hidroplanes (one of my next project it's going to be a japanese one).

You are doing a great work! Much encouragement with it!!

In a project with so much work to do is very usefull to think in the parts ... and not in the whole project, i mean, thinking just in the part of the build you are now doing (engine, seats, controls .. ). You are building each part .. and bit by bit ... you finish!

I look forward for the next steps!

Kind Regards!!

Thank you so much for the kind words and of the encouragement.  I'd love to see the Japanese hydroplane when you finish it.  You are correct, in that I will build in a step by step part by part process.  I too look forward in this progress.  Thank you for the read and reply!

Toshi,

Your doing a stellar job here,  keep it up. PE can be either great to work with or horrible, you make it look easier than it is, well done.

This is a very interesting kit.  It has it's moments and then I get into the machine gun and there's like a dozen pieces to put together, plus the PE.  So this is turning out to be a great build.

Thank you uncle Jay Jay!  Yes, you've got to get one of these kits, although you need to dry fit every single piece and make the neccesary adjustments.  It still is very detailed and with the Big Ed PE set, it just makes this build fun.  Thank you uncle Jay Jay for your support.

Welcome back DasBeav!  It's great to have you back as you're an important member in FSM Forums.  I had a problem with PB, but I fixed it for the moment.  Now that it's taken care of, I am progressing like a snail.  Between my grandson whom I love and chores, bench time is minimal.

But that's ok, for now the weather here is fantastic.  Hence I have to do errands for Mrs. Toshi.  I also am dealing with some fit issues of ths particular kit.  Some parts don't fit and you have to modify the part(s).

Thank you for your support in my kingfisher build

Your making great progress Toshi, keep it up. You can overcome the issues, as I have had to on my own builds. Just keep plugging away and you will get there in the end, break the problem into parts (not literally of course Whistling) and do a little at a time.

Just know we are all here to help each other in encouragment or technical assistance.

Know go kick some Kingfisher into line!

Great job on the pe Toshi. The Kingfisher is shaping up nicely. Now you need to do something with 1/144 pe to really drive you nuts. Wink
