brandon I heard that same thing about model master so I called them I ended up talking to one of there engineers he got into his pc while I was on the line and couldn't find any info about there line or testors line of paint being droped. but who knows?

all we have in my area is testors model master and just got a little vallejo at are new hobby lobby and lost are tamyia with the loss of another ma and pa hobby shop

I only have a few because I prefer the acrylics and lacquers over enamels, but I use Model Master when there's a gap or I'm too lazy to mix. Generally I prefer Mr. Paint, and I unfortunately heard Model Master is getting rid of their military colors line. Local hobby store is putting an X over each item in the stock rack.

brandon if you use a lot of model master paints they have a book out. model master modelers technical guide.

I use mine for color matching all the time. I just wish they would update there color chip pages. I was also surprised to find out that model master supplied the paint for the real FW-190D yellow 10.

howdy stickpusher while doing resurch on my 109-b im working on i also found out that the E-3 was indeed sent there. its seems the Luftwaffe sent there early birds  there in a fast program for testing.

Excellent finish! I did not know that the E-3 made it to Spain and the Condor Legion.

Joe - no, these were RLM 62 or 63. So, light gray or light green. Jury is apparently still out on that. Although RLM02 mixed with the color I used might be more what I actually wanted.

Blackdog - thanks for the info - that would esplain the cast to the color. I'm not sure I buy the whole "scale effect" thing, or we would have to allow for pink Ferraris, but I do think lighter colors sometimes just look better, so maybe I am a proponent after all and just don't know it.

howdy Brandon the build looks very nice the detail is awsom. model master dose not put it on there packaging but in there book it states there paints for 1/48  cut at 25% with white. I use there white primer that has a bit of blue in it.

the scale effects they list are as follows

1/32 10% white  1/48 25% white and 1/72 30% white. i think they should make this info more avalable being there product is sold everwhere. atleast in the states.

BD, I’d pick this scheme for the same reasons you outlined. Very cool subject, Condor Legion birds don’t get much love.

Gotta love an armed Mickey...turned out great. Weathering looks fine to me. I agree the color seems off. Weren’t these overall RLM 02? I’m not too knowledgeable about pre 40 Luftwaffe. Great job none the less.

Ok, I finished this one. I don't love the paint color, since it looks a little off to me, but that's what Model Master had for the RLM match and I went with it.

That said, this one is cleaner than I usually like to see, but it was also late to the game. I chose this scheme because I liked the beer on the side, and Mickey Mouse packing heat.

Yeah, the yellow hub is interesting, and I chose this scheme because of the beer under the canopy.

I got the flat clear on it last night and will hopefully get the exhaust staining on it soon and call it done.

It's been a while since I've been in here (holidays, health stuff blah blah), but I've finally had some time to get back at it and got most of this Spanish Civil War 109E together.

The Eduard decals went down as they always do - amazingly. I gave it a Flory Grime wash, attached the wheels and am going to flat clear it this weekend and hopefully add exhaust and exhaust stains and call it good.

I actually lost one of the wing guns to the carpet monster so had to buy a resin replacement.

Anyway, that's where she sits now.

Great masking on the wing tips and exhaust. These Condor Legion aircraft are pretty darn cool.

I have my 109 in its base paint scheme finally. Still need some touching up where I missed masking on the black parts, but that's pretty easy.

I used Model Master RLM 63 Lichtgrau for the topside, and while it looks a little light to my eye, some weathering will hopefully sort it out. The black around the exhaust and wing roots is just the primer, since I was being lazy. I used my Tamiya RLM 65 mix on the underside, and just straight Tamiya white sprayed thin over gray primer on the wingtips. 

I'm going to see if I can't hit the top of the engine with some black, as it's visibl through the vents. I'll try with a brush, but may have to mask and shoot it in there with the airbrush.

I also need to touch up some of the RLM 02 with my Mr. Paint under the slats (not yet glued down).

I was planning on masking the wing insignia, but then though, "Nah, Eduard decals are so good that I just don't want to deal with it." I am, however, masking and painting the rudder insignia.

I was happy to get the enamel top coat on before I head out of town. It'll be fully cured when I get back.

Unfortunately, I did break off the tail wheel strut, just like I did last time I built an Eduard -E, so I'll need to get some tubing or wire out, as well as add the tail antenna point thingy back since I managed to break that.

Well, I dropped it while masking the white wingtips and of course broke the tail wheel off just like I did last time I built Eduard's 109E.

They REALLY need to stop engineering them in a way that makes you add the tail wheel before closing the fuselage halves. THey did that on their new G and F series, too.

Nice start. Be careful when assembling the top cowl gun deck area as it can be finicky. I would assemble the whole front end, gun deck then add the cockpit from underneath. I remember having issues there and this was how I solved it.

 

Thanks, Joe. That's the route I took, too. I feel like it helps center everything. I put the glue on it, then put the other fuselage half on to hold it in position while it dried, then I released it again before adding the rest. Really helps provide positive location when the locating pins are lacking a bit.
