After a little bit of sanding and putty work.

2nd round of primer.  Better, but still not the way I want it.  Hopefully one more round will do it.

Ive been down to Dobbins a number of times for the Herc sim. Nothing beats a caree traveling the world in the ‘four fans of freedom’!

Hercs will always be my favorite plane.Heart

Threw a coat of primer on to bring out the areas I need to work on.  The main seam is pretty glaring, along with the windscreen piece.  At least in this scale I won't need much putty!

goldhammer, lol!  Tell my husband that!  J/K.  He loves me.  So much so he bought me the expensive Iwata airbrush for Christmas that I refused to buy.  I love it, but still say we couldn't afford it!  I guess a 40% off coupon helps too though.

Hodakamax, That is one of the reasons I picked up this kit!  I know she's there, and with any luck I'm going to try and get to Ohio this summer.  I need to do some stuff to my truck first, and look into prices for hotels and what not.  See if I can squeeze it into the budget.

Toshi, Thank you!  You and the Mrs. are in my thoughts!

Cadet Chuck, The base here used to operate the Herc.  I've had my fair share of them fly over head.  They used to practice touch and go's on Tuesdays.  I had dinner cooked and on the table early on those days just in case they flew.  If I spotted them I would jump in the truck and head over to a road that is near the runway.  The sight and sound of them going over never gets old!  They do still occasionally stop at the base and take off, they tend to fly near my house when they do.

GMorrison, Thank you so much, PM sent!

I'll give you my C-119 if you want it. Just PM me your address.

I used to live in Marietta, GA and my office was right across the highway from the end of the runway of Dobbins Air Reserve base, which is adjacent to the Lockheed-Martin plant where the Hercs are built.  You can imagine the excitement of being under the final approach path when those big birds were landing!  We also got to watch F-15s, 16s, and an occasional Galaxy coming in, a few hundred feet overhead!

Ah, look at the cute, girly pink rubberbands...

Lol.  Actually they start out red, until you stretch them.  Trust me, even though I'm a women I'm not a big fan of pink!  My favorite color is blue.Big Smile

Thought about making the same comment, but after two marriages, I know better, even though Keyda is calling it baby herc.Smile

Lol.  Trust me, I am no girly-girl.  I might have a few girlish tendencies that slip out every now and then, but I grew up with my two cousins who are both boys.  So I was out there getting dirty, climbing trees, poking in places we didn't belong, lol.  I was the only girl in auto shop class in high school, and I've worked at two different auto parts stores.  I know I'm not your typical women, lol.

Jay Jay, It's pretty good actually.  I was expecting it to not have the option to have the rear cargo doors open, and no interior.  Mind you there is a whole 2 pieces to the interior, but it is more than I expected.  Fit has been pretty good so far.  Only issue I ran into was where they have you replace the front section of the left sponson.  Instructions tell you to cut that section out, and then have you replace it with another piece in the kit, after you put the floor in.  It should be put in before the floor, since it goes in from behind.  I just popped the floor back out, and got it in there.

I would like to do the C-119 as well for my "planes of Niagara" idea.  I'd prefer to find the kit in 1/72 though.  The 1/144 would just be to small for me.

Even though it's a 1/144 kit it seems to have a great deal of detail. What do you think of this kit ?  I may hafta get one.

You are slyly making me have an afinity for these cargo ships and I already built a C-119 thanks to your WIP's  Surprise

Glued the engine nacelles on after sanding them a bit.  I'll start on prime/putty/sand tomorrow.

Painted up the inside of the little Herc this morning, let that dry, and did a bit of a wash to bring out the details more.  But I forgot to take a picture before I closed her up, lol.

You can kinda see inside......

Masking off the windows was actually a bit easier than you think.  The windows themselves were recessed a bit, made it a lot easier to cut with a razor.

Excuse the total girl moment here, but it's so cute!  A little baby Herc, lol.

Some putty to be added, and some sanding done.  But at least this has recessed panel lines.  I'm going to be trying a few new things with this one as well.  So we'll see how things turn out!

You certainly are one to challenge yourself, Keyda. Gonna paint the ship in Vietnam camo?

Lol, yea sometimes too much!  But you never learn if you don't right?!  Yep just like the box art....hopefully!  I don't have a camo Herc yet.

Took a little break from the bench for a bit and decided to build the itty bitty Herc next.  I've got a few kits coming in the mail next week that I'm rather excited for, so this will fill in the time for now.

First things first, start butchering the fuselage, lol.

Got some interior pieces glued, and the wing halves glued together.  I just stuck the engines in place, not glued in yet though.

I'll paint the interior tomorrow before I seal up the fuselage halves.  The most time consuming thing about this build will be the exterior paint job.
