Now that I returned from Boise and got back to the bench, I continued with the belts. I installed them and added a wash.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

This is looking fantastic! You’re one of the top ten modelers I’m my book.

Those belts look great. They look like gravity is doing its thing, well done. This thing is looking awesome.

Toshi This is looking fantastic! You’re one of the top ten modelers I’m my book. Your friend, Toshi
Thanks Toshi. Top 10? LOL, I was thinking more like bottom 10.
Thanks BK.
I installed the large canopy. The lower sections didn't fit well so I needed to trim them. I added some canopy glue as filler and sanded the edges down. Once these are done I'll start on the landing gear.
There’s so much details on this kit, your mastery and skill are next to none. I’ve been watching and learning from you. It’s just incredible! By the way, how are you feeling and how is your family coping with the past operation? Thank you in advance.
Your freind, Toshi
Thank you Toshi, I am doing well, much better than several months ago. I have an odd feeling in my chest because most of the area is still, and will probably be, forever numb, just to a less of a degree over time. My wife and family are doing well and are looking forward to me returning for good as am I.
Looks great so far. How is the overall fit and finish?

At the plate: 1/48 Airfix Bf109 & 1/35 Tamiya Famo
On deck: Who knows!
Mopar Madness Looks great so far. How is the overall fit and finish?
The overall fit is fantastic, the canopy is the only thing that needed a little work so far, and all I have left is installing the gear. It may have been fine if I assembled the entire canopy prior to gluing just the main section down first. I didn't think it would have made a diffrence. It may not have but you'll have to keep an eye on that when you build yours. It was an easy fix.
The canopy is done and I painted the sand yellow, installed the elevators and landing gear. I started installing the brake lines and added a little more filler on the firewall. A little more work and touch up and I'll be ready for camo. The wings install very easily so I'll stick them on for the camo. I'm hoping the wings will look good enough that they can be removed for transport rather than gluing them on for good.
The brake lines and a few touch ups done. The fuse stripe and yellow under wingtips painted. Now comes the camo. I test fit the wings and it looks like I'm going to need to glue them down. Not a horrable thing but it will make it more difficult to relocate.

Very impressive. I guess being 1/35 scale it is intended to go with suitable vehicle/armour models
In the queue: 1/48 Beech Staggerwing (RAAF), P38 (RAAF), Vultee Vengeance (RAAF), Spitfire Vb (Malta), Spitfire VIII x2 (RAAF), P39 x2 (RAAF), Martin Baltimore (Malta?), Martin Maryland (Malta), Typhoon NF1b, Hellcat x2 (FAA)
Chris
Don’t know how I missed this one. Exceptional work as usual Steve. Wil be checking in to see your progress.
This scale wil make a great dio along with my old Dragon DAK figures so I may get one.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Thanks you Clint, Chris and PJ.
I completed the camo and now am ready for the decals.
Oh man, I can’t wait to see this one!
That camo looks incredible. Very cool.
Thanks BK,
Chad, it should be done for the meeting on Saturday. Done or not I'll bring it with me. I may still be in the weathering stages by then.
I applied the decals and decided to do some dot filtering. I needed to tone down the white and add a dusty look overall. I still need to do the undersides then add a sealer before continuing with the weathering.
Before
Oh wow! Great camo application!
Thanks guys. The filtering cuts the starkness and blends everything together to my eye. I added another sini gloss topcoat and will add some chipping the the cowlings, fuel tank covers and landing gear. Then I'll add some streaking and such.
I'm getting close.
Chad, I'm not sure I'll be completly done on Saturday but I'll bring it in regardless.
Just a few more things to do now. I want to add some dusting and need to attach the prop and cockpit door. The wings are not glued and will allow me to transport it when needed. The cowling will stay unattached.
Oh boy that looks superb! I’m getting anxious to start mine now!
Chad, didn't you say you were thinking of doing yours in a medical theme?
Looks awesome
Steve,
This is turning out to be a beautifully done, fascinating model!
About the only suggestion I can make is to upload larger images of your WIP to the image hosting site. I'd (selfishly) love to see more of the details in your work.
In any case, looking forward to the finish of your fabulous build!

It really is. I missed that it was an RA aircraft. Like that.
In an odd way the type is in the news again. There's a C-53 wreck up in the Alps that recently re emerged from a glacier due to the catastrophe called climate change. It was a MAC or USAAF flight that crash landed in 1946, no loss of life. The passengers and crew survived five days until they were rescued. Although climbers reached the site, it was too remote and dangerous to walk the people out. They were flown out two at a time in Swiss Army FI 156s equipped with skis.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
