It's an ugly fit. I fought it for a while and used a fair bit of putty. The four piece cowlings are a real treat too.
Retired and living the dream!
Yep lots of fun!....Not!
Just remember that you can shim the pieces and fill in the gaps later.
With that many pieces I can see that shimming is going to be necessary.

Ok
Ok I found the fit of the wings rather iffy.Lots of putty will be required.
Has almost a 22 inch wingspan.
The fit may be iffy, but you're making it look good!
You're giving me encouragement to get back to my P-38.
That was a Pita too!
Is that the 1/32, or 1/48?

That is a very old kit, from 1974.
It's a Mk. 1, I think an F.
One early spotting feature is the flat rear stabs- later marks starting with Mk. 6 had a prononced dihedral.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Thanks for the info!
If that is a 1974 dated kit I'm fairly certain that is the first release of that kit. Looks good so far. Keep at it.
Will do!
Masked off the canopy and blister
Can you say surface area kids?I had to fill the color cup 3 times to airbrush the primer on this monster!
She's a big bird! You're going to be using a lot of paint for sure lol.
