Judging by the 1/32 Beaufighter recently featured in FSM the invasion stripes are wide and bold.

I would like to find that review. Thats a Mk. 10, notice the tailplanes have the upward dihedral.

The stripes would be 18" each, although it's a multi-engine it is similar in that way to the P-38.

I do wonder about D-Day invasion stripes on a desert scheme.

Why's going on there, Phil?

Maybe not. But you may want to see if the invasion of Sicily had invasion stripes required.

With a north African paint scheme, you may get lucky enough to be somewhat accurate.

Otherwise, just go with it because you like it lol. It really only matters to you in the end.

No in fact two dozen C-47s were shot down over the landings by "friendly fire", which led to the adoption of stripes for Normandy.

Put the invasion stripes into baggies and made paper engine shields to prevent overspray when painting the cowlings.
