That is simply amazing how well the markings came out dog. I was thinking of painting my own Jap markings on a 1/32 Oscar I'm working on and thought about the work involved but after seeing your hair pulling tedius masking work, mine will be a walk in the park.
Both Jugs are looking EXTRA sweet and are a refreshing change of the usual NMF ones.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Looks fantastic so far! On Gabby's jug, I noticed the Technod decals showed the "taped off" fuselage invasion stripe boarders too, but your masking effort looks infinitely better than the decals would have IMO. Congrats for your patience with all the masking but it looks fabulous. The camo looks great too.

damouav I'm enjoying seeing you bake these turkeys to perfection, as always. You should go on master chef...

Thanks Damian. My wife is a better cook.
"Can you fly this plane and land it?...Surely you can't be serious....I am serious, and don't call me Shirley"
tempestjohnnyAwesome progress. Your step by step instructions are great
Thanks Johnny

7474Great build so far. What did you use for the RAF Green? I come back and look at your threads when I’m building something similar.
Thanks. I used XF-81 RAF Green. Looks perfect to my eye.

Thanks Hoss. I was pleased how they turned out.
sickdudeWonderful work on the P-47's sir! Your paint job is excellent on both, good stuff .
Thank you William
Quick update. I fired down a few coats of X-22 Clear Gloss and Mr. Leveling thinner (50/50). Best clear coat ever. Smooth as glass and hard as a rock. Forget anything else. I used Techmod for Gabby's plane, namely for the fuse letters, tail serials and the kill panels. I was worried as Techmod tends to be very fragile and if your not careful they'll schrivel up on you, however, I used alot of water and had no trouble. Perhaps they have improved a little?
Schilling's Hairless Joe got Aeromaster decals. The sheet was from 2001 but still performed perfectly.
I'll give myself props..........
Time to start working in the fiddly stuff.
Besides them looking great as usual I really like that gloss coat. I have yet to get a nice gloss coat with X-22 but I think I will get some of that thinner and give it a try.

Thanks Tick. The thinner is actually the key, especially when you go back over it with straight MLT thinner. It's like magic. It almost melts it. Great stuff.

I got that trick from watching doogstx on his web site. The leveling thinner is super.
Your paint and markings are just gorgeous.

I saw a modeler on YouTube test a bunch of different gloss coats and he liked this one the best. That's what prompted me to give it a shot.
Thanks PJ.
Consistent excellence Looking forward to the finish
LD, So I tried that gloss combo on my Fw190 and it came out a little grainy. Didn't look near as great as yours. Maybe it wasnt thin enough or perhaps I needed to lay down a few more coats.

God, Family, Models...
At the plate: 1/48 Airfix Bf109 & 1/35 Tamiya Famo
On deck: Who knows!
Chad you have to thin it about 50/50 and shoot close to get a wet coat and then shoot the leveling thinner by itself which creates that gloss.
That may be it. I had a ratio of 50% glass to 50% thinner but I was about 12 inches or so away as I didn't want to have any pooling. Next time I'll get in closer. Thanks!

Yeah, you probably need a few more coats or need to put it on a bit heavier. Don't forget to go back over it with straight thinner. That's the trick.

This. I replied before I read them all....lol.
Coming up a treat Joe. Will certainly give the clear coat another go.
Thanks for taking the time to post.
Damian
Hairless Joe certainly has a great set of props on dem' guns . Lmao! You really did a wonderful job on them sir, I applaud you! Can't wait to see them all buttoned up, and ready to soar.

I'm done with these turkeys. This is the first time I've done double Tamiya Jugs. Probably not my last. I love this kit, although I do prefer the razorback version. I'm always willing to try different things. I set aside my Flory Wash and tried the AK Interactive Paneliners. It's essentially a set of pin washes that are supposed to be designed for use on different camo types. I suppose it's to tone down the contrast of panel line washes, so it's more subtle. For the uppers I used the Green/Brown and the lowers the one for Grey/Blue. I was happy with the results.
I'll start with Schilling's Hairless Joe which got the full ordinance load. Other than PE seatbelts, it was done pretty much out of the box.
Next is Gabreski's famous machine. This one is depicted as it looked on D-Day or shortly thereafter. It got the same AK panel wash. I had a set of Eduard Brassin wheels in the stash so I used them on this one. They are an upgrade, but I think Ultracast has the best wheels for this kit.
Both together....
It's always a highlight of my time on this fourm to watch your builds Joe.
And these two don't disappoint, well done mate.
Will keep my eyes open for the next.
