I've not built this Academy kit, but the ones I have built were good to very good. I hope this one will be an enjoyable project for you and Ezra, your VP of model construction. He has a VERY pleased look on his face, while holding the kit box.

So glad that you and Mrs. Toshi are both doing well now, as reported in your earlier post. You both were due for a run of good luck and better health.

Tosh, Col. Morgan would be proud. You should take a day trip to Dayton to the USAF Museum with Ezra to see the real thing. The Belle has been fully restored and on display there. There is a flying B-17 at Willow Run Airport in MI about half way between Detroit and Ann Arbor MI. Consider taking him up in that when he is old enough. You would enjoy that also.

We were only able to breakdown photos of the kit, the actual bench work will start either tomorrow or Wednesday.  My son, Ezra's dad has a day off so plans have been made for an outing for a father and son day.

As for the thread "My other hobby" in philatelics, it's my pleasure sir to be able to share my stamps with FSM Forum members.  I'm most honored.  I'll be posting Football/Sports cards on that thread as well.

I did purchase a remote control car (RC ) his first, so we will see what he does with it.  It has the traditional toggle controls but it has Bluetooth built in and he can control the RC car with an iPhone that you download from a app for his RC car.  It's a red Corvette.  Of course he picked it!  Lol!

Standard Operating Procedure for a young fellow's grey matter. Tell him the truth always. He'll thank you for it. I am curious how this works out. When I personally saw the Belle she was in run down condition in the park in Memphis.

 I jumped for joy when I heard she was being restored ! Sure beats seeing her with torn Fabric, Faded paint and Flat tires!

Tomorrow afternoon, we will definately start this project as Ezra has to be returning home to his mothers this Friday.  We won't have him back for another 2 weeks so until then, we will be hanging out at the park playing and fishing.  Then it's nap time in the afternoon and when he awakes, that's when the assembly process begins.  Thank you sir for the read and reply!

That sounds so awe inspiring to actually see the Memphis Belle up close in any condition.  As another FSM Forum member suggested, it would be very educational for Ezra as well as Mrs. Toshi and I to visit Dayton, Ohio at the USAF museum just to see the different aircraft display.  That is truly being in touch with history and learning from all of our mistakes only to bring mankind closer than ever before to not make anymore wars and destroy humanity.  

That's why I try my best in teaching Ezra and guide him in historical knowledge so he understands his path in progressing his life and making those that are around him and love him to share and inspire.   As the saying goes, the meaning of life is to truly enjoy and live it to its full potential.  Thank you sir for the read and reply as well as supporting our WIP builds.

If you do manage a visit to Dayton, plan on 2-3 days.  You will enjoy it more and will be way less stressful on everyone than if you try to see everything in one day.

Think it's going to be hard to keep hands off her when the little guy isn't there.

Ezra and I are getting ready to primer the Academy B-17 "Memphis Belle".  We are using a economical Rustoleum Gray Primer.

Here we are at step number one.  Ezra is much more interested in the Tamiya stand then building the cockpit.  Lol!  Some days he's on it, and some days he's not.

Question....looks like part k27 is installed upside down from what the instructions call for...or maybe an optical illusion.

Thank you for the heads up!  Mrs. Toshi said that since I'm Japanese, I do everything backwards!  Lol!  Thanks again goldhammer.

I think I should be watching cartoons with Ezra instead of attempting to assemble "Memphis Belle" backward. 

Ezra did the painting with Model Master Green Zinc Chromate.  We were going to paint the seats and maybe assemble a few more things.  But he requested bath time, he keeps us very busy and very active!  Lol!

I wanted to take this time out and to address these glasses called "Mighty Sight".  They can be worn like I do, as reading glasses or onto prescription glasses. 

What makes these glasses fantastic is the built in LED.  Plus they charge up with a USB.  It's especially great at night and works wonders while building a kit! I purchased mine at Walmart.  

Keep the receipt as if anything happens, you get 90 days for a refund or in my case an even exchange for a new one as one of my glasses malfunctioned with the LED lights.  It's such a great product, I have 2.

No way it's your heritage my friend.  I've had to cut loose more than one part and redo it because I've screwed up.  Happens to all of us.
