Hallo from Poland, Mike ! Now I began to make a Smer 1/48 Reggiane Re 2000 - not so nice model to do, with rivets as big as tennis balls (!), but I think I will work it out somehow. Unfortunately I had to leave my Thai Hawk project because of problems with undercarriage - but I think I will be back to it for a couple of weeks (I'm going to scratchbuild it !). Regards ! Guday Mike
I am building an RB-36H in 1/72. The raised panel lines are going to be a right pest to fix!
I also have a WW1 British Hemofradite Tank underway in 1/35 scale.
I purchase most of my kits from my "local" hobby shop about 30 miles away. He has some great kits from the past. Some in original boxes others in plastic bags. I find that it is good to make the trip especially on Saturdays as a lot of other modelers gather for a chat and coffee. Some even bring cakes and bickies (thats cookies to some) and that makes a good day out

Hello Mike, and welcome.
I'm currently wrapping up a 1/72 Airfix Kingfisher, and about halfway done with
the Trumpeter Hornet. Next up is my first resin kit, the Iron Shipwright tug USS Hoga.

Since my original post, I have completed the Ki-61 and am now working on an Academy Polikarpov I-16. Small project for sure.

Yes, PSU stands for Penn State... 2 weeks til football season!

A Lagg-3? I'd be quite interested in that... I have completed a La7, working on a I-16, have a Yak1 to be built; also completed La5 and Yak3 years ago...

Great artwork, shark708. Where did you get it?

Metallica's a great band! Check out Ipolpo22's post "What would you name it?" He asks what name would you give the hypothetical plane he invented. I came up with lots of suggestions, all from heavy metal.

I recently started an F/A-18C in 1/48 scale by Hasegawa. It's going to be a Christmas present to a buddy who works at the company formerly known as McDonnell Douglas. He did engineering work on wing strengthening and tail issues.
So far, it's going pretty well, but I'm dreading the myriad of parts I'll have to attach to the metal landing gear.

I prefer supporting my local hobby shops, but eBay is a great place to "trawl" for models. Thanks to eBay, I have half a squadron of F-4 Phantoms.....

I'm working on a Hasegawa 1/32 FW 190D-9 which is coming along nicely.

I get my kits from local hobby stores when I can't wait. Usually mailorder or ebay will suffice for kits that aren't going to be built soon. Watch for Hobby Lobby half price sales. I picked up a bunch of good cheap stuff last time they ran it.

Wink [;)]Hey all;
I'll tell you what, I'll trade you all of your projects for mine:
I'm working on an A-10A(fullscale) in the middle of a hotbox called Iraq looking for you know who and wishing I could be home dreading the smell of tenetX and testors paints doing my favorite thing in the world(I should say 2nd favorite)

the best places I've found kits is EBay, greatmodels.com, Squadron.com, and sometimes Hobby Lobby,

Hello, PSUMike ! Right now, I've got a few "irons in the fire" so to speak. I'm working on a Promodeler Bf 110 G4 w/ Verlinden detail set (major project for me); Classic Airframes MiG 3; LTD LaGG 3; Falcon Bf 109 G12 (2-seat trainer); MPM Fw 189 A; and a Hasegawa Ki 100 Tony w/Eduard photo-etch. All are 1/48 WW II subjects. Should keep me buisy for a while. In between I do "digital dogfights" with pics of my planes using Photoshop.

I am almost finished with a 1/72 Spitfire IX from Hasagawa, have to weather it and put on decals, my first 1/72 and god how do people see these small parts:-) Welcome to the modeling community, this is a great place to learn stuff for sure!

Hey Mike!

I'm working on Promodeler's 1/48 F-86D Dog Sabre. I'd have to say, this one's probably one of the best kits I've built in a long time. But then again, painting natural metal isn't the funnest of things to do. Wink [;)]

Usually, I buy most of my kits from online retailors, most frequently squadron.com and internethobbies.com. Both sites are very secure, have great service, lots of products, low prices, and ships fast.

For tools and such like paints, brushes, tweezers, etc, I buy from the good old hobby shops in my area.

Anyway, I'm working on a 1/72 scale Monogram F-4J which will carry the markings of VFMA-333.

Right now, I'm working on my 1/48 Hasegawa F-14A Tomcat of VF-84 "Jolly Rogers". This includes the Black Box cockpit set- a lot of work!

Aftter that will be my 1/48 Accurate Miniatures TBM Avenger.

And here's the tentative lineup for the next decade (subject to change):
48th Timyia Skyraider
48th Revelogram F-105
32nd ProModeler BF-109G
48th Hasegawa F-16C
48th Monogram A-10 Desert Storm
48th Monogram PBY Catalina
32nd Tamiya F-4J Phantom

I try to alternate between More Modern jets and WW2 also alternate kit makers - this keeps me from getting in a rut.

Working on a hasegawa 1/48 f-16. and starting on a revel-monogram 1/48 f-18 "chipie ho" hornet.

I haven't built many models so I've just shopped around the local hobby shops, but I'll be making a lot more online purchases since they don't really stock up on the stuff I like.

I always have several kits in various stages at any one time. Here is what's on he workbench right now:

1) A 1/48 Accurate Miniatures TBM3 which , when finished, will represent the a/c my uncle flew while stationed in Saipan in 1945. Since this is to be a birthday gift for him, it took quite a bit of time to research because I couldn't really ask for his old photos. I thank God for message boards like this one!

2) A 1/24 Airfix P-51D Mustang that I am building for my daughter. I found a picture of a P-51 with her name on it as nose art and was inspired to pull out the big old kit that was collecting dust. It will take a little work, but with a few tips from some on-line articles by Rodney Williams, the detailing should go fairly smoothly.

3) A 1/48 Revell P-51D (yes - I know!) which I picked up as a cheap hack to practice my foil techniques. I'm trying out a few different methods to work out which technique and which materials work best under different conditions. The P-51D has a few challenging curves, undercuts and details which can pose problems when applying foil.

4) A few 1/72 Academy kits just for fun OOB builds. There inexpensive, fairly well engineered and surprisingly well detailed. I have a BF109 and an A-37B in the works.

5) A 1/48 Revell A-26 Invader which will (after some surgery) represent the a/c flown by Richard Dreyfus' character in the Steven Speilberg film 'Always'. This project will give me a little adventure in producing my own custom decals of my PC.

Needless to say, my workbench is always a bit of a mess!

Of course, now i'm working on an 1/72 Academy F-14A, wich will be with the VF-1 markings (From Airfix kit #5013)...
And i'm currently doing some customization and detailing on an 1/720 USS Enterprise... with decals from USS Carl Vinson!!!!

By the way, i'm trying to build all the USS Entreprise aircraft types at 1/72, so it will be a little bit of a ghost hunt...

On the stand by i've got an A-4 (my next, i've already got the decals!!), an Hasegawa's S-3A Viking, Revell's A-7D/E Corsair, Heller's E-2C Hawkeye, Kangnam's F-8E Crusader (ain't got yet the "right" decals for these one's), all at 1/72...
And they'll be on the waiting until i get some USS Enterprise decals.... I hope!!!!

Some of the kits come from my local hobby shop, as long it was my first choice, but now i'm turning for he Web on-line shops, but i've mainly ordered small stuff (decals, glue, etc.)

PSUMike-
I use the sludge wash technique that Paul Boyer described in the Nov 2001 (I think) FSM. Even if you don't have the magazine, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if that article were available on this site. The technique has worked well for me so far.

as a thank you present. Smile [:)]
