 Sprue-ce Goose:

I dug my old Lindberg Drakken out of storage.

No modern decals.

I am deciding if I want to try that camo scheme on it or go some other scheme.

Tony! Come on in, bring the wife & kids too! Finish date is December 31 2012. (I'll have to add that up front)

I must apologize, I promised Saab work this weekend, but ended up working on my Flanker instead. Same ol' Saab story.... Embarrassed

Just added the badge up front and here as well. Couldn't resist including the Swedish Chef, as a reminder to have fun! Wink

Theuns

You're doing a SAAF camo? Really?!? NO WAY!!!!  Wink

Adding you right now Theuns, nice little kit to put together, just watch out for that big gap on the tail - still not sure what they were thinking there...

Oh it fits well enough, but there is a large gap that has to be filled. Low-viz greys.... maybe try a "what-if" green & tan scheme like on the Mirage I built.... Hmm

That green /tan sceeme was totally inefective in Angola. The SADF intercepted radio coms between the Angolan MiG drivers and ground controll where they said it was easy to visulally acuire the tan.

I am also not the biggest fan of low viz greys, but I rather like the diamond pattern we have on.

The cockpit is basically complete. WIll post pix later.

Well at our club meeting last night one of the guys brought by several boxes of models left to the club by former member Tommy Carr who passed away about a year ago. Tommy was a big Saab groupie, aways buying their cars and one box was full of Saab models. So I picked up a 1/72nd Gripen (I think the same kit as Vance''s) and a 1/72 Saab 17 dive bomber/scout by some limited run company I've never heard of before. Both look like nice kits, I'll try to get photos of the boxes up late this weekend.

Vance, if I get some progress done on some of my other stuff I might start working on the Saab 17 if it's ok with you while still holding off on the Viggen.

A B17?!?! Go for it, I can't say I've seen one kitted before. Lots of glass to mask in that one!

Oh yeah, B17- sorry I'm not that familar with the aircraft so I messed up the designation.

It's this one here.

I'll try to get up a photo of the box late this weekend or early next week. Not a big fan of 1/72nd kits but this one is pretty nice esp for limited run. Comes with a choice of wheels, floats, or skis Indifferent and a BIG sheet of decals for about a half-a-dozen nations that used her.

I'd like to get the kit built sometime in any case as a bit of a tribute to Tommy since he never got to build her.

Gamera-
Is that the Marivox kit? If so, I've read good things about it.

I have many books and my Lair smells of rich mahogany!!! Stay thirsty my fellow MOJOs!

YES! That's it, should have written down the company name before I left the house the morning. Yes! Marivox is the name, box says they're a Polish company.

Definatly nice kit, good sharp molding and piles of options.

I made a little progress on my Grippen. It is not the best fittling model, with the wingroot needing some "effort" to try and stil right.

Simple kit and it's just a pitty I can't use the missles as the SAAF uses IRIS and not Sidewinders, Anyway here "inland" they rarely fly "missled up" LOL!

The decals for the SAAF is actually nice, exccept for the eagles inside the "coockycutters" that all look to their left. Half should look right. I got other decals though.

This is just a simple build, nothing special about it.

Since Owl posted the 'Forces of Nature' GB I should be joining you guys in about two weeks (July 1st). I've decided to go ahead on the Viggen and leave the Saab B17 to later.
