Were you in Bedford for the 70th Anniversary of D-Day??  It was a good weekend; I was down there with my old Army unit for a farewell ceremony conducted right were you had your car parked!  Really impressive monument and there is more to come.  Well worth a trip by everyone, especially when they have their special events.

BTW: I did grab some new car photos over the weekend. Chevy Camaro SS, 6.2 liter engine, leather everything, convertible roof. Yeah, it was expensive but I drove my last car twelve years- as I see it if I can get ten years out of the this one I'm willing to cough up the money. And I'll be all set for my mid-life crisis car...

Very sweet ride! Nice!

My first (and probably last) new ride was my '86 Ford Ranger. Had 43 miles on the odometer. It was fairly basic with manual transmission, manual hubs for the 4WD, and didn't even have a radio installed. Not everybody is a Ford fan, but the two of us were together for 23 years and traveled nearly 250,000 miles. The only major repair was a clutch, but that is really a part that wears out and not mechanical failure. Finally she was just too tired to go on and had to be retired.

Dave: Ack I just missed you then. I skipped the 70th anniversary weekend since I really hate crowds. Our local IPMS club has a small show we do there on the Saturday on Father's Day weekend so I was there the next weekend after you and your unit. I live about an hour away from Bedford, I guess I should visit mroe often.

Jim: Dang, if I could get 23 years out of a vehicle I'd be thrilled! With a truck that dependable I have hung onto her too!

Russ: Be happy with the Saturn- I really should have bought something more practical. It's one of my few vices to have to own some muscle car I really don't need and barely can afford. I've had no accidents and one speeding ticket in the last ten years and my insurance is still ridiculous.

Still she does drive great!

The D-Day Memorial wasn't too crowded on Saturday and was running like a well oiled machine.  You must be from the Roanoke area IPMS club. I was hoping to make it back down for the "D-Day in Miniature" show, but pressing family matters kept me away.

Love the car Cliff. I've always wanted a ragtop. Just make sure to put that top down when it's nice and sunny. I see too many yuck yucks driving in beautiful weather with them all buttoned up! LOL

If you ever get a Thursday off drop by our Roanoke IPMS club meeting sometime- it's 7:00 to 9:00 pm second and fourth Thursday each month with a few exceptions for holidays. We're in the Roanoke Transportation Museum but in the back - it's a little hard to find but there is a map on the website.

Mike: Yeap, I don't get people driving with the windows up on a nice day. I had to put it up a few times recently from getting my bald spot sun-burnt though!

Lol, a ball cap would make sense wouldn't it? Guess I like to have the wind blow though my remaining hair!

I may have to do that the next time I'm down that way.  I'm up in the Charlottesville area so that may be a bit of a stretch in one day, but not impossible.  BTW, your club has a great website!!

Yeap, our webmaster, Jay works his butt off keeping it up and updated.

He does an awesome job!  Wish we had enough interest in a club here in the Charlottesville area, but Jefferson's hometown doesn't seem to take well to the model building past time....go figure!

Guess I'm not the only one that goes in for a "Fringe Trim" at the barbers every 6 weeks or so?

BTW: Squadron is running the Encore Models 1/48th F-102A on sale for thirty-two bucks though Sunday. Dunno if anyone is interested or the kit is any good but thought I'd point it out.

Hey Cliff I hear ya on the wind in your hair thing. I'm clinging desperately to every follicle I have left too. I've always been jealous of those who have as much in their 40's as they did in their 20's! Forget about cancer, I have to get working on a cure for baldness; instant multi- millionaire! That and a pill to make us old guys attractive to 20 something gals!

I was in my early 20's when mine started to go. I think the only thing that would make me attractive to a 20 year old at this stage of my life would be a large bank roll. I keep waiting for that sack of money to fall off that armored car, but it just doesn't seem likely to happen anytime soon.....

I love reading through this GB, the topics covered is never ending, just what makes this forum the place it is.

I hate having hair. I have had a crew cut since my late teens. I started going thin on top in my late 20's and about 10 years or so ago started shaving my head about once a week. I really like being fully bald and if I let my hair grow a bit, I over heat really quickly in the summer or when I am doing anything strenuous.

Also, Jim, that's the beauty of my plan. I get to cure my own receding hairline as well as become filthy rich.  Problem solved. Bring on the 20 something girls! Just have to keep my present girlfriend in the dark.

And shave it all off and be done with it. No need for haircuts or washing your hair, and the girls love it. My other half says I look younger when I have shaved it.
