Dave, I have my eye on Tamiya's 1/35 Walker Bulldog.  Was thinking I would take a trip to the darkside for this oneEvil [}:)]

Mark, have you decided on a possible start date?   Perhaps the GB could be names the 'Weekend GB' or something along those lines.  just my My 2 cents [2c]

sounds interesting, but like dupes depends on the weekend.  That and finding an easier kit to build.  Wait, I think I might have something in my stash.

As you can see there is some quality work done in those 24 hour builds. hey, maybe someone will get brave enough to do two in the 48 hours Tongue [:P] to get more people involved we had the build over a few weeks and let folks decide what 24 hour period they wanted, some even got two builds done.

All the best.

I'd probably be the one to tempt that.  I had a bad habbit of working on other kits while glue/paint is drying, its why I have SO MANY kits going at once.  Like snap this piece out, clean it up, glue it.  While its drying to another piece from another kit, back and forth.

Sounds like a cool idea.  I'd like to join but I work weekends, I'm off on Mondays and Tuesdays so if promised not to start until 0001 hrs that Monday would that work?

Not necessarily. The weekend builds I've done (years ago) are designed more for fun than for "precise" modeling. That being said, taking something in a smaller scale (1/48 armor or 1/72 armor/aircraft) allows for a decent build with fewer parts. I know that taking a 1/35 DML Premium Kit with 400+ PE parts isn't going to work in a weekend, but a 1/48 Tamiya StuG III with a nice single coat paint scheme can be done up to show quality over a weekend.

I guess it depends on what your definition of "precise building" is. For me, that would involve (on a typical 1/35 armor kit) about 3 days alone of scratchbuilding or modifying suspensions, interiors, etc before I even got the kit started.

Again, to each his own, but these builds are FUN, and every modeler has his or her own ideas on what that is.

Just my 2c

Dave, good to see you here.  I was thinking that I would do a 1/35 Tamaya Korean war era USA tank.  Have one picked out at Hobby Lobby for $15 with the 40% coupon thats $9.  I could do that in a weekend, I hope.

Hey Roy, fancy seeing you in here.

My vote is for a weekend in mid November but whatever the group wants I'll try to make it work.

I'm thinking either a 1/72 Italeri M20 or the Academy 1/72 Me 163.

I'd go for it.  I have a few kits I have been meaning to get to but never had a reason (HGUC Jagd Doga, for one)

Any particular subject or are you planning to keep it open to attract as many people as possible?  Is this open to aircraft and armour?

Any particular weekend in mind at this point?

I think we could make it open to any subject, any kit..each individual would have to decide if they could complete their kit within the alotted time..some may take on a big task of a ship some may only choose to do a figure diorama....make it a total crossover group build for all to join and for all to enjoy.  As far as a weekend, it would have to be a non holiday weekend, maybe in the winter months when there's not alot of outdoor activities...any suggestions would be welcome.  Would love to get this started after New Years.
