Lend-Lease GB (1/1/09-7/1/09)

Thanks for your comments "Mobious" Here's the first of my paint stage, now I need to weathere the interior first and put the cab back on so I can start on the full body work out or work over.

hey is my update on my M10 Wolverine. Ready to paint before adding the little parts and decals. Will paint first thing in the morning.

 MG, The Zvezda kit looks to be a challenge, with the all the pin marks and fit issues.  I like the scratched roller springs. Nice added detail.

I hope everyone is OK!!! Finally started back on the M10 Wolverine. I had lost all motivaton to build. Hpoe to have the paint and decals on by Sat.  Will post pics then.

Well I finally buckled down and did some major work on my build. I connected three of the hull sides to the fighting compartment. Suprisingly they went together quite nicely, compared to some other parts. Just a slight seam has to be filled and some excess glue removed and sanded. Then I have to start weathering the bottom of the hull. For some reason the instructions say that the compartment should have been glued on to the support frame a few steps back, but if you do that, you just made weathering a hundred times harder for yourself.

The counterweight in the front of the build has been connected. Scratched the springs out of some copper wire, and filled in a few holes and etc. However the fit of the weight holders to the main frame is terrible. I started filling in some gaps with crazy glue, because it's next to impossible to get putty in between the parts and actually sand it smooth. Argh! I can see this will take alot of time and some luck.

Thanks (Mg) for the comments an about your project. "Take your time" as you know what the out come will be if you rush your self. Like the song tell's you by the S.O.S. Band: take your time (Do It Right).

Here's my progress so far on the scout, going a bit slower then I woud like.(probably due to the fact every, single piece needs massive cleanup) Anyways I got all the seats in, and I filled in the holes on the bottom hull, where the locating marks for the seats are with putty. The seats painted with a mixture of Testor's enamel brown & black. As for the drybrushing on the floor and etc. I used a mixture of Testor's Steel & black.

For the upper hull pieces, the marks have been cleaned up and painted. Now I'm just test fitting them, because I know their's gonna be problems. The fender pieces have also been put together, but they obviously need a ton of cleaning up. Plus on those two small pieces I decided to scratch the springs that react w/the counterweight(so some modification had to happen.  

Hay you guys and girls I'm still here and I have some new work on my project. I'm getting the cab togethere for paint an the body as well!

I'm not home rightr now and once I get home later to night I wil be back with my fixed long range rocks and some of my first paint stages.

A lot of nice work being posted here.  Hopefully I'll be able to get started on my build within the next couple of weeks.

Great to hear your makin' progress, for some reason now one else has been chattin' much about their builds. Hmmmmm.....anyways, keep us posted!

I gotta start painting the seats soon, possibly tommorrow. In the mean time, I started the upper hull parts of the scout car. I think the pic below says it all. It needs massive sanding, and a ton of putty. These pieces that are just plain riddled with ejector pin marks. And I mean riddled, heck some of the ejector pin marks almost seem to be in places impossible to sand without wrecking the detail. If their's a carpet monster, then theirs one that's ten times as grim, and that's the ejector pin monster. This one bites.....hard.

Well, I finally finished my 1/48 Tamiya Bren Carrier for the 1/48 Armor GB.(This is what I've been working on lately and what drew me away from my scout car) It went together like a dream. I also stuffed it full of scratch details like the towcable, map of Paris, and suspension coils. You can see more pics of it in the armor section.

The Bren was a dream to build, but I can't quite say the same about the M-3 Scout Car, which I re-started work on. The head rests for all the seats have two holes(not all the way through, but almost), like for positioning on each one. However there's no positioning marks on the seats so I gotta be careful when gluing so it doesn't melt the plastic.

As for the seat cushions themselves, I finally put on the tissue to give them more texture. But you gotta remove a pestering seam that can show even through the tissue.

Finally the seats themselves, a little flash had to be removed. However here is where the kit's aging molds show. The tops of the seats have just plain bad molding, so quite a bit of sanding is neccessary, of which you can see also in the pic.

White - that Katyusha looks great! Is that the old Italeri/Revell kit?

Not to cross-pollinate GB's, but how's work going on your 251/5?

Personally I've just about finished a 1/48 Bren carrier for another GB. Plus I've got my lumber cut for a scratchbuild I'm doing for another GB. Thus that means I'll have plenty of time to re-start work on my scout car. Plus I'll have some nice "vacation" time to work on my builds for about the next two weeks straight.

Now you got some mad scratching skills there, White_R34!!! I just hope the scratch project I'm currently embarking on, comes out half as good as that Katyusha.

Thanks Mobious,Stikpusher  and Stick man. I have a lot left to add to this build, like all the small bolt heads and a 1940's Soviet Padlock for the stowage box on the rear. An yes I have photos to help me in it's constitution. I'm going to scratch build one I'm not going to use any PE:
