The same. I didn't have time to do any work yesterday. I forgot that I had baseball practice (yes! already!) so every other moment was filled with trying to get my algebra (Yuck [yuck]) done. Tonight, I hope to pour the resin but yet another wave of algebra/grammar is closing in. I also airbrushed the body of an atom for science so while I had it out, I was gonna lay some paint on my 1/72nd Tiger 1. By the way, This is for SMJ Modeler, Can I join Big Cats? I asked on the thread and I PMed you. You never got back to me. Anyway, I'll try to get some snapshots of the resin-pouring. Well, hey, this is for procrastinators...Whistling [:-^]

Oh, by the way Wyoroy, could you add to my list a dio of the Alamo? I started after I visited the Alamo but painting all those 1/72 mexicans really got to me. I have the wall and a little chapel thingy where Jim Bowie is. Thanks.

Alex, I updated your list on the roster.

Sean, the Storch will look great when it's finished.  Is there more to the paint scheme?

Been working on the P-40N.  There are a few wrinkles in the decals.  I applied them back in 1997 and it seems that nothing will fix them short of replacements.  Can you tell from the pictures?  I'm going to try some stuff I learned from an article titled "Patching an Olive-Drab Finish" I downloaded from the FSM website.  Then I will highlight the panel lines and try some exhaust stains.  This will all be a first for me.

Next up for the NME is a Hobbicraft/HawseG - 1/32 Fieseler Storch.I shelved this one because I never could make up my mind on how to attach the wings (type of cement) It has very nice engine Detail of which most is hidden.

Storch 1 The canopy was my first experience using "Frisket Film" to mask with. Yep I use it all the time now.

Storch 2Most of all the structures are assembled, they just all need to be attached . Once I do that I will have to order up a can of paint.

Wow ~wee  Roy  that P-40 is a looker. Here all this time I was thinking it was 1/72 also... Makes me feel better it is 1/48 with all that detail in the pit.  Silvering seems more intense under light when there is a camera for some reason. I turn my lights off when I get my camera out and let that infra~red beam do its thing. Laugh [(-D]

That desk is too clean, that time spent cleaning you could have been working on you kits Wink [;)]

Thank you on  the Bearcat Smile [:)] Do I get a Prize Propeller [8-]

Alright guys, here's my desk cleaned off and ready to go.  Here's some pictures of my Mauve 1/48 P-40N.  I need to repair the gunsight, add the nav lights, reattach the canopy and touch up a few spots.  I notice that some have the decals have a bit of silvering.  I'll see what I can do about that.

It's a done deal.  SMJ, give me the details of you build and get started, unless you have something else to do firstWink [;)]  I happy you guys decided to let him play.  I didn't want to say yes and then have someone cry that the rules don't allow it.  I aggree, rules should be flexable when need.

Dave -  Whew , you had me all stressed out there...Stuff like like drives me Crazy when that happens. Glad you were able to get them back in place . As for the Dust forget about it, dont tempt fate - besides I am a firm beliver in the "Four Foot Rule"

Roy - let SMJ in, as I see it this GB is about getting them done ! Besides wern't Rules made to be Broken... Good thing my kids dont have access to this Forum..Whistling [:-^]

Aaronw- That resin pit is really going to Spiff up that Helo. Any other little tricks you got up your sleeve planned for that Helo ?

Thanks guys for the comments on the Bearcat.  Just a little History on this kit, it is Manufactured by HAWK - 40 pieces was my count including weapons. The instructions are dated 1967 almost as old as I... The Kit has held up better though..Right now she is decorated, the canopy has been masked, painted and in drying mode. I really need to get to town and stock up on "Dull Coat"   I have another kit just like this but this one is "Chrome Plated" for that NMF look.. Have I mentioned I really like these old forgotten and neglected kits by todays standards.  I feel like every time I build one I have turned back the clock. Besides working with  decals over 20 + yrs really prevents Boredom..Laugh [(-D]

I worked on my Fiat Br 20M last night trying to repair the damage from the old tape.  It actually turned out not too bad.  I used an old stubby paint brush and dipped it in some WD40 to wipe all the residual glue from the tape off.  Worked really well as the WD40 doesn't atack the paint and evaporates pretty good with out leaving a stain.

The only problem was I pushed out a couple of windows from applying too much pressure.  I was able to reach in and re-attach one of them with a pair of tweezers but the other, which was still partially attached was behind a bulkhead that only had a small door through it.  I was able to bend a paper clip to the apporpriate shape and reach through and push it back into place after putting some white glue around the window frame.  Whew!!

The only other problem is the inside of the main canopy windows have a lot of dust and gunk on them from sitting on the shelf during renovations etc. with no way to reach in and clean them off.

Just a few small paint touch ups and I can call this one done. Big Smile [:D]

Matt, I'm not a chopper guy but that does look awesome!!! Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]  I love the tarp too.  I'll have to give that a try one of these days.

I say let him play too.  6 months is long enough.

Roy,

The "tarp" is the only way that I could think of to cover up the gaping hole where the "door" should be.  Really a very simple process, I cut a piece of kleenex to the approx size, wet it down to form it to the shape that i needed and then once it was mostly dry painted it OD Green.  Once that dryed I drybrushed it with some dark earth color and used white glue to secure it.  I think that I also took a q-tip and rolled it along the flat areas to ensure that it was laying flat where it should be.  The method that I used differed slightly from what I have read before of adding the white glue to the water when you are first forming the tarp.  All that I really need to do now is go back and touch up some of the corners.  I  also learned from this kit to not use packing peanuts ( the ones that get everywhere when you open a box ) because they have a tendency to stick on the model and leave a bit of foam where they were stuck.  I tried to pick all the pieces off but was not able to get all of them so some became places where the paint has worn off.

The Pit for the Huskey looks sweet, good work.

Love the Bearcat - Had that kit when I was a lot younger and messed it all up, nice to see one looking so nice.

I say let the man play - he promised not to return to the kit until the one year mark, but I think that it is close enough for us.

Matt

Merry Christmas

SMJ, How can I in clear conscience turn away an orphan.  The rules do state that the build has to have a min of one year from the start date and not belong to an active GB.  Since yours is six months it doesn't fit the bill.  If the folks in this GB want to allow it then I don't have a problem.

So what do the members of this GB think? yea or na

Matt, I agree, that's one of the best looking helos I have seen in awhile.  The tarp, is that how you fixed the missing door?  Fantastic ideaThumbs Up [tup]  Like Sean said it adds so much to the look of the aircraft.  I like you base, very well done.  That's something that I want to do more of.

More then likely yes, It is Boxed by AMT but I have been discovered that they used other kits with their name.

This is where I am on the Bearcat - come tomorrow she will be a Marine ...

Bearcat 3 I repainted the prop, the yellow tips were way to large at first (heck they still may be , but they are staying) and painted the hub gray after checking several reference pics. Got the legs on just for show, maybe this time I wont break it again.. Futured up to dry tonight.

Sean, the Bearcat will look great with Marine markings.  Plus I like naval aircraft in the all blue look.  I hope to have some finished pics of the hawk nosed P-40N today.

I started working on the RoG Ka-50, since it was mostly complete only to find that I have lost the instructions.  Not a major problem though because I have already completed the paint and decals, all that I really needed to do was add the armaments.  Oh and I have discovered that the left cockpit door has gone AWOL.  I did come up with an idea that helps to hide that fact though.  Will have some pics soon I hope.

Roy - Go with the P-40, it does feel good to get one of the incompletes off the shelf!!!
