Well clearly I'm not going to finish on time. Unfortunately, the complexities of life got in the way of my hobby time so I haven't been able to airbrush anything. I will certainly finish it as soon as possible but it doesn't look like its getting done today Crying. Sorry gents!

Pordoi thank you for being such a good host and running the group. Although I didn't finish the base for my build I had fun building here and learned a bit about the bone. In fact I have been inspired to build one of my own maybe this year. Anyway thank you sir and I hope I can join another of your group builds. Toast

Thanks to all of you for making this a great experience and I hope that everyone had fun.  I found out that hosting a GB is alot more effort than I had anticipated, but was made much easier by a great group of participants.  I had alot of fun watching your builds take shape and doing my own.

In the next few days, I'll make the final update to the front page and probably post a quick summary to the Aircraft forum to let everyone see some of the great work that was done in this GB.

As for future GBs, well I've got an idea or two.  So stay tuned... But first I've got to finish up my duties as the unofficial "official" photographer for my daughter's school soccer team and put together a final slide show for the end of the season party.

And please post pics if you finish a project that was started here but not finished by the end date.  I'm sure that we'll all be interested to see.  Once again, thanks to all.

Hey guys,

Sorry for the absence lately. I've been extremely busy with a new job and other life events.

I wish I could have made the deadline but unfortunately I'm going to have to post my progress as I try to just get this build done!

I was able to do some more work tonight. First time I have touched it in months Sad

I have painted the gear wells, landing gear, tires and doors. I also tried my hand at filling in gaps with putty for the first time. I feel it went pretty good actually. I also sanded down the areas where the engine nacelles "stuck out" from the main body of the plane if you can remember. There used to be a fairly large "gap" but it is smooth now!

My next plane of attack is for some nice weather to come so I can paint the body of the aircraft. Then I plan on attaching the gear and start work on the armament.

About to join the upper and lower halves together. Had to work on the front landing gear bay earlier than the instructions state due to the resin cockpit. Should have pics soon.

Ye, but thats only cause the MoD are so tight fisted they won't give us decent kit.

Haven't checked this thread in a while, so thought i would see what i had missed. Some great looking builds around here, loving the B-1's and Tomcats. Vett, thats cat is brilliant, love it.

I was able to get my MiG on its board before i went away, and a step ladder attached. Once i get the figures done, i will post a couple more pics.

Don, please don't start any decent GB's to soon. I have had to turn down some great GB's recently and drop out of a few more. Its bloody breaking my heart.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Short update to my Tomcat. Got the horizantal stabs cut off and the fuselage joined together. Gonna add the nose and gun next. Here's a pic.

Sorry that I've been checking in a bit irregularly.  Good to see more progress, Medicman.  It's shaping up nicely and it seems that you're doing well with the poor fit issues that others have mentioned with this kit.  Always a challenge, eh?

Post more pics whern you et he nose and gun installed.

Thanks Don. Having a bit of an issue with the gun at the moment. Not the best fit (partly due to me and partly because of the kit). Should have that part done by next week due to work. After that it's really pretty easy.

Alrighty, the nose and gun are attached. The first time I glued the nose on in the wrong position. Bang Head So I had to take it off and reattach it (scary Surprise).

Ok now the nose is reattached here. Toast Had to add some styrene under the gun cause of a big gap. Now on to filling and sanding.

Nice recovery on the nose installation.  This model seems to be fighting you at every turn.  Have fun sanding and filling and hopefully, you won't have to re-scribe surface detail; that's the part that I dread.

Yeah there's no way around that. Bang Head I'm not gonna kill myself over lost panel lines though.

Just a small update. Got the nose pretty well blended in. Still trying to fix some more gaps.

Now I primed it to see where the worst spots were. After the primer dried, I discovered that the primer finish is really grainy. Now I think it might be cause of the humidity (it's always humid here in Houston) but I'm not sure. I guess I need to sand the whole thing. But that means i'll have to rescribe the whole stupid thing. This thing is close to becoming a lawn dart.

Found out from some others that it's because i'm holding the can to far and the paints drying before it gets to the model. In all reality, it's just that friggin hot here. So I stll gotta sand it and then rescribe it. Bang Head So I hope no one's waiting for me......oh wait. The build is long over isn't it. Lol.

Hey, sorry to hear about your problems with the primer coat.  I've been there myself; and usually jut take a few days, weeks or even months off from building just to re-calibrate and come back fresh.  OTOH, just dig in and sand the sucker...  Big Smile

Well,... we're almost to the end of injury time after two 15 minute overtime periods.  Have a look at the sports news and see what is possible... Wink
