Yippee......I'm a Kid again GROUP BUILD 5/2010-9/2010

Ok. Here we go!

Revell Spitfire MK v.  The clock shows when I started it. Wheels were missing so I mobilized pair of FW 190 wheels from my sons stash

I found old Humbroll tube glue from 80:s.

My daughter stole the camera...

Cockpit.

Interior green.

Fuselage and wings glued.

Wheels.

Propeller etc.

Ready for paint. I let it dry for a while.

First colour. I let it dry again for a while.

Painted.

Now to sleep for few hours And at morning I put the decals.

Done!

Now I remember the bad things about tube glue. Look at the landing gears. The glue takes hours to dry...

Did you all know that some colors just dont like to have thier picture taken? Well, the color I chose for mine sure didn't-----

Here is my 1-sitting (1 1/2 if you count spray paint session) Corvette. Sprayed Testors Grape Pearl, and with dried body, built in 1 hour and 18 minutes. Grape Pearl does not like to be photographed

Well, the secret was the letting the paint dry and keeping my hands clean-clean-clean.

Although I did use tube glue it was in limited amounts as it is a Snap kit. My next one I do will be a full glue kit with more parts. I will probably start on it in the morning since it is raining , and I cant paint my Phantom for the F-4 GB, so I will combine this one with my Paint Brush Challenge GB.

Where are the 98 cent Aurora kits now that we really need them ....

Testors enamel is still available in 1/4 oz bottles, I get mine from either Micheals, or Hobby Lobby, and if mail ordering, Squadron has them as well as many other brands. Most local hobby shops, (sadly fewer and farther betweeen) should have Testors too. Testors Model Master enamels are available as well in 1/2 ounce bottles too

Recently, I've become quite fond of Tamiya Color acrylics, though it's a tricky to brush at first, once you get to know it's reaction habits/drying times its not all that hard to brush.

Unleashed in the east!

I'm back and took the pictures of my childhood model building. Progression can be seen with the addition of paint and finally even spray paint! The motors from the cars have been borrowed for a 'what if' Porsche Tiger I that is about 30% complete.

*note the `battle damage` and fish line rigging to mount on the roof! Classic childhood memories.

Here a British tank has been `converted`to German usage. The decal is paper glued on the skirt armor. Weathering on the Buffalo landing craft is ash from the fireplace...WAY before `Mig pigments`

Most likely my best work as a kid, Graff Spree fully painted!

Before `Top Gun`this Tomcat was my last childhood model built.

Like said before I cannot build a model under the limits set, I figured these pictures would be worth a ha ha & possibly bring back memories. Thanks for checking them out!

Well since its the I'm a kid again GB, rules need to be broken :P

first of all its gonna be late, nothing i can do about that, side effect from anti-biotics are not always the best. But better late than never

This has taken so far about two sessions. Also the first time I've done any building in the last three months due to health issues.

The Kit

The tools, when I was a kid I used to "borrow" mums paring knife from the kitchen, since I dont SWMBO would be happy about doing that know, I used a knife for trimming after a twisted parts from tree

The Parts

Cockpit painted, pilot was pre donated to my 9 y/o's hellcat

Struts taking FOREVER to dry

Next day (took that long stoopid tube glue)painted top and bottom

What can I say far? Well sometimes I look at my current builds and think I can much better. Now looking at what type of jobs I did as a kids (10/11 Y/O) I think Ive doing a resonable job now with each new kit I start and new technique I try.

Hope to have project finished by end of the weekend (medication issues not withstanding)

oooo! I love Kittyhawk And it MUST be made by Airfix. It was my first model when i was three years old in -73 I still have atleast one wing left...

Did a build that might qualify let me know. NO in progress Pics though, no Camera when I was younger.

Got bored and did a 4hr Motorbike Build of a Tamiya 1/12 Moto Guzzi Centauro.

Kit was assembled(parts were trimmed) and glued(no Tube glue/Britfix 77 not available).

Than painted with GW paints using 1 Brush for everything(so plenty of brush marks). One decal got lost during application plus silvering on the others. Also left out the wiring as this used to annoy me when younger.

Of course since I used GW paints they don't match the Instructions and the colour scheme has changed somewhat.

Will take pics in a short while.

P.S.: I tend to do builds like that every so often so just to get somethig finished in between builds and get the satisfaction of something finished.
