So can i join? Id quite like to. give me some motivation for my corsair.

Less than 12 hours to go locally until this GB kicks off. For those west of 180* it is already June 25...

Helo (since your gonna change types on me... ) and Gregbear, I have added and updated your kits to the roster.

I will be working  23 of the next 34 hours so I will not be able to kick off my build until Saturday once I wake up from recovering... Sometime this weekend I will get a rough draft going of the badge. Anyone with skills and photoshop who can assist and fine tune will be most appreciated.

You would have to change the appearance of the engine some, John.  The D had the GO-335 Franklin instead of the Lycoming in the S.

I had another look through the H-13 book and the bubble canopy on the D looks slightly smaller and the tail boom is shorter than the later S version ; So I think it would be to difficult to try and attempt....just thinking out loud I guess , the H03S-1 will be challenging enough .

Hello, after some deliberation, I chose my Monogram (ProModeller) -5N Corsair.  It'll be pretty much out of the box except for decals, some wiring, and some seat belts.  The markings will be Marines of course!  VMF(N) 513, the Flying Nightmares!

The competition was stiff!  When I started looking around in my stash, I was surprised at how much Korean War stuff I had!  A bunch of Corsairs, tigercats, sabers, a skynight, sea fury, panthers, mig 15, and a cool little Fairey Firefly!  I probably missed mentioning a few.  If/when Airfix re-releases their Seafire FR.47, I'll probably add that one too.  If I make good progress on the Corsair, I will try and build the Firefly too.

It's quite handy having the sink incorporated into the workbench , great for wet sanding tamiya putty after it has dried .

Helo- great kits! And I'm sure you'll enjoy the Zotz decals. I finished a Phantom with them recently and though they're expensive they're the Cadillac of decals.

Plus, nice choice of paints. I've been leaning towards Gunze acrylics for the last year or so. Too bad they aren't available over on this side of the pond...

So I thought I might just cut the parts from the sprue and clean them up...

I'll give the clear parts a polish with some toothpaste and then dip them in some future .

The fuselage alignment pins didn't line up with each other , so I trimmed them flush .

As soon as you give the word stik , I'm ready to go...

I've got everything I should need ; paint , new saw blades, [I'm going to cut open the cabin sliding door and add a couple of pilots] , sanding sticks and sand paper . There's lots of flash on Mach 2 kits , 50% of the work is cleaning up the parts .

Italeri's 1/72 scale A-26A/B Invader arrived in the mail today ;

These decals also arrived...

There are two sets of markings for A-26B Invaders in the Korean War ; I like the Versatile Lady decals of the 13th BS, Iwakuni AFB , Japan 1952...

The Aircraft is black all over , apart from a bit of red on the wing tips and tail fin , this would be a fairly easy airbrush paint scheme to do , so if it's okay I'll throw this build in as well .

I just re-read the 'rules' and saw that we can include models that we have started. I have a 120 mm US Marine 1950 1st Marines fig , I think it was a Kirin kit,, that I have been meaning to finish, it is almost complete, but need the base and final details and weathering. I'd like to include it if possible. it should not take me long to finish it .

Its out of some old IPMS Quarterlies. The author did a whole series of articles on different US destroyer classes.

I would very much like to find an Allen M. Sumner class destroyer and modify her to Korean era equipment so as to make her the USS O'Brien. My uncle was on her during the gun battle mentioned in the blip on wiki here.

Yes USS Fletcher did serve post war. Many Fletcher Class destroyers served up until the 1970s. But her configuration was most likely different than what the Tamiya kit comes with. Most likely her AAA weapons have changed as well as her radars. The kit is as she was when first in combat in 1942 off Guadalcanal. If not one of those, Dragon's Gearing class destroyers are an excellent choice and near the same in price.

I think that is the problem with most ships, the majority were WW2 veterans and the kits are as they were in WW2.

Here is what I have n that configuration change: A new ASW  weapon, Weapon Alfa, the Mk 108 12.75" ASW rocket launcher fired an ASROC which would release a homing torpedo when it entered the water. This weapon replaced the Number 2 5" gun mount. Astern the superstructure was stripped of guns and deck houses to be replaced by two staggered twin 3" DP mounts. and their director. The superstructure appears to have been widened. Forward, the bridge was carried around the front of the wheelhouse, and a "hedgehog" launcher installed on either side of it. Most Fletchers modified to DDE configuration had a tripod mast installed to carry heavier radar equipment.

The only thing I can find on the Fletcher being a different configuration is this.

Recommissioned 3 October 1949 as a specialist in antisubmarine warfare (ASW) after conversion to an escort destroyer (DDE-445), Fletcher sailed for San Diego 1 May 1950 for a tour of duty with the 7th Fleet in the western Pacific.
