Went to the best hobby shop around and the only korean war Tamiya kit I seen was an F-84, sadly it was 1/72 and I dont build those. I will be shopping around Ebay for a kit. I'm thinking of the M26 first. I'll wait till the end of July/ early August to start a plane if I do one. There is an airshow (EAA) that goes on and they always have a Saber, and I believe a Mig too, great place to get reference pics.

Ok, no rush.

I ordered the chopper today.  Should be here by the end of the week.  I am definetly looking forward to this group build.

Hobby Lobby has an F-86F-30 from Academy for 30% off, might pick that up. I did try it one other time so maybe its time for a second try.

Or wait a week or two and use the 40% off on any non-sale item that they run at least twice a month.  Of course, you can't use it if the models are 30% off that week.  I miss the days when Hobby Lobby ran a 50% off on models-at least twice a year.

I thought about that, but they never keep more than one in stock at a time, atleast that I can see, and some models have a bunch on the shelf. I went out and bought it, a few $ difference wont hurt me. So my model is an Academy F-86F Sabre!

OK psycho (lighten up Francis... sorry couldnt helpmyslef ) your Saber is added to the roster. Any idea which markings you will choose? I am presuming yours is the 1/48 Acdemy kit.

I am planning on building this as Pasadena Pistol Packer II which was with the 729th BS and was lost on July 19, 1951.  There are a couple of good pics of this ship in the book Korean Air War.  I'll see if I can scan a picture along with some progress pictures.  Thanks!

Psycho I'm looking forward to seeing your build mate!! I have the Academy 1/72 version in the stash as well.

I'm presuming I can count on you fellow forum members for help when needed? The only problems I remember with my last one was that the wing to fusalage fit wasent great, not horrible but not great. and the fusalage halves under the tail didnt go together well. I'm still in the learning stages on aircraft (I find tanks easier to build so I usually stick with those). I'm looking forward to learning new processes to make my warbirds better!

I'm still planning on getting an M26 too, just not now. Also depending on how the Saber turns out I'd like to get a Mig to go with it, There is time for all of this still.

I'd like to join this group build, it's my first.

 I have been gathering kits for a few years in hopes of building a dio of the USMC 'attack in a different direction' from the Chosin Res. I have the M26, a GAZ 'jeep', M35 truck and figures from various sources...

Do I need to list the kits?? Take pics of the build? or just the finished dio?

A diorama is most welcome! Just let me know the scale and generalities. As you do your build, take pics, make posts about your progress and once all done show us your handiwork. Teh fun is in the participation and feed back. I love the sound of your diorama.

Sounds like a great idea, I'd like to do a small dio myself but I'll concentrate on getting just the tanks done and seeing where it goes from there.

Bob, the Academy Sabre is a very nice kit!! I will attempt the HAsegawa offering this time around so I'll have a better idea of the differences, but simply based on the economics, you can't go wrong with the Academy kit.

Every once in a while Luckymodel offers Academy kits at a nice discount.

Thanks Charles-I remember the F-86 you built for the previous 'Forgotten War' GB.  It was very nicely done.  My problem is that I'm collecting kits faster than I'm building them.  I have a WIP Texan....err... Mosquito (60% complete) for this one (leftover from your 'Forgotten War' GB) and a F-84 (Tamiya 1/48) awaiting in the wings, time allowing....and so many kits that I want to build.....

It will be 1/35th scale. M26 USMC Tank leading a deuce and 1/2 with wounded Marines out of the Chosin past  a burned out NK Gaz jeep. I have around 12 figs put aside for this ,,but more likely will be 6-7.

I really look forward to this GB,, now I just have to find what I did with all the components and get ready to start.

If I need to provide any other deatils as I am a 'newbie' to the GB thing..please let me know.

Bob - The Tamiya F-84 is another STELLAR kit!!

Apparently we both suffer from the sam affliction. One of my goals this year was to not buy another kit....that was 4 kits ago. Now my goal is to build more than I buy in a year. Or maybe the same. Or buy just slightly more than I build...

Alright, Carlos...something to shoot at!!

I read reviews of both the Trumpy and the Tamiya...they are both supposed to be good. I've built the Tamiya Mig-15 and you can't go wrong with that one, but they say the same about te Trumpy. I guess I'd go with whichever I could get my mitts on cheapest...

If it turns out like the Huckbein you'll have a winner for sure.
