Travis nice Chickasaw.
I dont know if its fault of the kit or if it was a "feature" of real ones but it looks likethe rescue cable would rub against the float?
Thanks for the kind words.
Stick: Here are a couple of pics of the whole bird. You can pick. My camera is not the best, but I make due.

Wolf: I thought about the same thing as I was building it. The floats were more of an after-thought I think. Most of the pics I have seen of the actual bird of it with the 4 landing gear config. The arm looks pretty accurate though. No telescoping or anything like that. The kit was a bear. It doesn't sit sqaure on all 4 wheels?? I tried several different things to make it work w/o success. I have about 4 other GB that I really wanted to get on and decided to just call this good!
I recently picked up the Revell kit with Coast Guard Marking (for San Deigo, where I grew up). I'll have to see how different the kit falls together!
Thanks again,
Travis

Well the Mig15 cockpit is painted and put together.
A question for all of you, when the chair is two different colors such as the metal and then the cousion, how do you paint it so it isnt all sloppy?
Travis, your chopper has been added to the completed pics list. Those pics are just what we needed. If you have not already, feel free to grab the GB badge (again, seeing how you already have completed the F2H). Nicely done, and thank you for the full view pics!

Engine assembly is complete, I will not paint it as i'm not going to display it with the back fusalage off. This kit is really nice, easy to build. I will have pics ASAP.
Very good psycho... we'll be waiting

Hey Travis - great lookiing helo ...
Where and when did you live in San Diego ? ... i was born and raised there, living all my life in El Cajon until moving to TX (ugh !!) ... I well remember the USCG Air Station on Harbor Drive, spending many hours there shooting pictures, thent urning right around to shoot action at Lindbergh Field ...
A good friend of the family for years was the Commander of the station and air wing ... he finally retired and moved to New Zealand to raise sheep, of all things ... were you around when the Guard used to fly those LOUD Albatrosses, using Lindbergh for take offs and landings, then having the gates opened and a taxi right acrross Harbor Drive to get back to the station ? ... only street I've ever seen with a stoplight to halt traffic for an airplane crossing :-) ...
Again, good looking bird and a great build ...
pepper
PS Here's the Thunderjet as of this morning ... canopy is painted but drying ... need to add it, the rockets and bombs and gonna call it 'finished' ...
Great job on the chopper Travis! Looks good.
Pepperkay, your Thunderjet is looking sweet. Keep up the good work.
I haven't forgotten about this GB. I decided that finishing the Lancer first will save my sanity. Then I will finish up the HRS-2.
I have an AFV Club M40 Big Shot that I was planning on building for the Self Propelled Gun GB which doesn't seem like it going to kick off due to lack of interest. The kit supplied decals have some Korean War markings so I may build that for this GB too.

Well, I'd just paint the cushion with a brush. Yeah I've seen contest winners paint EVERYTHING with an airbrush but I don't see the point of taking all the time to masking it off and then loading and cleaning the airbrush for tiny little stuff. Maybe that's why I don't win contests eh?
Mac: Would love to see the Big Shot, I was looking at that kit at the hobby shop Sat but for once I resisted the temptation to buy yet another kit when I've got a monsterous stash already.

Gamera having a monstrous stash....is that a pun?
But yes, detail painting in cockpits canbe done quite nicely with a fine brush. Once everything is dry some use of washes and drybrushing will bring out the wow factor.

Got some new pictures up on my website, and I'm working on it more frequently. Currently I'm building a pair of ambulances at home, the Academy 3/4 Dodge Ambulance and a mod of a Hasegawa jeep into an ambulance. Lotsa sprue stretching for stretchers and stretcher holders on the jeep. Also, superdetailing of the engine in the Dodge. Here's a couple pictures of other stuff I've finished:
M-1 76mm pak howitzer and crew by SHQ:
And my F3D-2 by Matchbox. The white stuff around the decals is my dullcoate that went to poopy on me. The only way to fix it appears to go over it with a different dullcoate. Other than that, I did a bit of detail in the cockpit (invisible with the half meter thick plastic) and lotsa weathering just like the real USMC birds had.
Hope that you're all gonna have a happy holiday time. I'm hoping to see some of Incheon and maybe greater Seoul. Go places that I haven't been to before. Have fun with the wife, and build a few models.
Next month I work two weeks and then spend a bunch of time warming a chair. Yes, they'll be paying me to surf the web, nap and build models while I watch TV shows on the computer. I love my job!!!
Type to y'all when I can! BTW, the H-19 is on the chopping block soon for me as well!

It showed up on my computer at work just fine and now it doesn't at home.
Durn blasted newfangled tech-KNOLL-OH-JEE!
Andy,
I was able to right click on your photo information and then select 'Show Picture' and they came up just fine. This was using FireFox and I'm not sure it would work with other browsers.
The howitzer and crew look sharp. You have better hands than me to paint such tiny figures. Kudos!
Gamera Mac: Would love to see the Big Shot, I was looking at that kit at the hobby shop Sat but for once I resisted the temptation to buy yet another kit when I've got a monsterous stash already.
Lucky Model had them on sale a while back and I got one for around $20. With $10 shipping it was still cheaper than any place here in the lower 48.
I am not an expert in model building but the detail in the kit looks awesome. It has a turned aluminum gun barrel and some PE screens and a twisted wire for the tow cable. It has a decent set of vinyl T66 tracks but I guess they were only on the stateside prototypes, so I bought AFV Club's indy link T80 tracks.
I have only built 2 armor kits and I haven't tried indy link tracks. I am looking forward to learning a few new things.
Progress on the M4A3E8. Have the hull assembled, you can tell the original M4A3 parts in dark grey, E8 parts in light grey, I''ve added a new transmission cover from the spares box. I added new MG mounts per my reference pictures. I recently completed the road wheels and suspension. The cannon will be replaced by a Jordo Rubio metal barrel and muzzle brake. Tools and machine guns are painted and ready. Next step, tracks.

Nice looking Sherman Tellis!
Merry Christmas Korean War GB! I hope everybody has a safe and wonderful holiday. I will be at work myself, with my fire department family. With any luck, it will be slow and nobody will have a heart attack or burn down their house. And in my Christmas wishes, I hope everyone gets a Night Fighter under the tree for the GB next year.
Cheers,
Greg

Pepper: I was born at Balboa Hospital. Left there for a while then moved back for a few years after college. Nothing better than seeing a Falcon taxi across the roadway to lindburg for takeoff. When I left they were flying Jayhawks. Longbeach still had a couple of the H-65 (cool bird). I moved to Florida about 6 years ago.
Kevin: Thanks but the problem isn't as much the money is that I'm running out of room! Need to stop buying five kits for every one I build
Tellis: Looking sharp!
And Merry Christmas to one and all!!!
Got some pictures coming, waiting for them to end up in my emails. I took them with my cell phone so they wont be the greatest.
Heres 3 pics to prove I am actually doing something. The rear fusalage is together, its only 4 pieces. The engine wont be painted since I plant to glue the aft and forward parts together. The gun pod assembly is together, cockpit done. Just need to paint and glue the gun sight in place and I can close it up. The wings are together too.
Nice MiG there! It's coming along very well!
What markings are you planning for this Mig?
Maybe a Casey Jones like in The Hunters?
I have to see if the decals can be restored before I choose, they were yellowing so I taped them into window to sit for a week or so to bleach them out like someone suggested. I think its working but its going to take more than a week. Being winter its dark longer than it is light out.
Just make sure you have some sort of barrier between the decals, such as a clear plastic bag, and the window glass. Condensation can ruin what you are doing. And of course a south facing window gets the most sunlight... unless you are south of the equator.
Thanks for the tip. I have it in a south facing window, besides that big tree in our back yard it should get plenty of sunlight. I live in WI.
Hi All:
Flourish of trumpets here ... the Thunderjet is finally finished !! ...
However, due to a brain fart on my part, the batteries in my camera are dead, it's cold and raining and I'm not going out tonight, so will have to wait until tomorrow to get batteries and then take and post pictures ...
More to come :-) ...
I ordered a book and canopy masks from sprue brothers tonight, hopefully have them by next weekend.
Merry Christmas everyone .
Sadly my computer crashed a few day's ago , so my brother has allowed me 5 minutes on his , which means I have to type rather quickly . I wont be able to post any wip pic's until early January , so hopfully I can get a fair bit done between now and the new year .
It's a barmy 90 degress today , getting around in shorts , singlet and thongs [flip flops] 'not the type you wear under your shorts' . Anyway had a great Christmas lunch and a few cold beers . I'll start some airbrushing on the C-46 Commando this afternoon , looking forward to getting some paint on her . I got some great 1/72 scale kits for Christmas , Amodel Mi-10 Harke , 4 Mach 2 kits [2x Super Frelons and 2x C-123 Providers] that makes 7 C-123 in the stash with two about 90% complete .
I hope everyone has a great Christmas , I'll stop by again in a few days , my brother is starting to have 'fits' as a pop up window on the computer screen keeps saying "high memory usage " , so I have to go .
All the best .
John .
Merry Christmas to all!
Psycho: Looks good so far. Seems like you're ready to start slappin' some paint on her.
John: Ouch, sorry to hear about your computer. At least if you need parts you should be able to pick some stuff up on post-Christmas sales. Going to have to visit Australia, New Zealand, or somewhere in the southern hemisphere someday- just seems weird to me to celebrate Christmas in the middle of the summer and then have winter in July. Looking forward to the photos!
Working over Christmas here, just messing around on the office computer. Did get the ROK figures over halfway painted last night while watching TV. I was flipping back and forth between 'Miracle on 34th Street' and 'Die Hard II.' I was afraid I'd end up having a dream where I mixed up the two movies and had Kris Kringle being locked up in an mental institution controled by terrorists and John Maclaine having to break in and rescue him to save Christmas. Heck, I'd watch it...
Gamera Kevin: Thanks but the problem isn't as much the money is that I'm running out of room! Need to stop buying five kits for every one I build
My wife said something quite similar to that a while ago....
