Gamera, if that was a US tank, I'd say they were asking for directions to Texas street!  In the old days anyways.  I think it is all Russians there now.  Really cool, the girls add a nice touch to a great tank.

Stik, question:  why two different greens?  One looks like interior green, and the other?  Euro Green/Medium green?  Just curious, I guess I never paid enough attention to notice two different greens.  Looking forward to seeing the Cent.

Cheers,

Greg

Well I based the two greens off an F-86 I found as a range target. It had the darker green in certain areas and interior green in others. The darker green was called Dull Dark Green at that time, whichis a nearly identical shade as 34092. For this kit I used Polly Scale RAAF Foliage Green. I think it works. I was gonna do the cockpit in Interior Green also but then my research showed Gray there on the F-86F.

believe it or not this was an F-86... I had to scrounge thru the wreckage for a data plate to ID the aircraft it was so shot up... I knew these pics would come in handy one dayGeeked

Gamera, loved your build especially those young nice looking girls! Yes  Ummm, just wondering if they are available?

Guys, I really enjoyed following this GB.  I couldn't start my M24 Chaffee last weekend as few things came up.  You will be hearing from me soon... keep posting!

Thanks guys! And thanks Stikpusher for the great GB. The K1A1 is a great kit and other than dropping the Censored thing twice went together like clockwork.

Deafpanzer: Not sure if either are available, they're both two inches/ 6cm tall and speak only Korean Sad

SP: So you're doing a F-86 here and a F9F on the Hollywood GB? Pretty cool, looking forward to seeing the two of them come together. BTW: I suppose my first photo would be best in my opinion for the first page.

Did a little work the F9F, my second subject for this GB. Hopefully won't be long now.

Gamera, your choice of pics has been added to the Honor Roll on Page 1. So does this dio have a title? Something like,"Keep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the wheel!"Wink

And yes, with all the work here and reading up on this stuff I felt I needed a couple 1/48 fast movers to add to my collection and here, so I am adding those two.

Hi All:

Finally had some time to work on the Sabre Jet ... the first 2 photos show it ready for prime ...

The next 2 are after the prime coat ... hard to tell that it's now Tamiya White Primer, but it really is ...

Finish coats on tonight with the balance of the fiddly pieces and decals tomorrow ...

Pepper: Looking sharp! I assume she's going to be NM?

SP: Not sure of a title, I'd kicked around:

'Weapons of Mass Distraction'

Whatever the Korean word for 'Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn' is...

Anyone else have any better ideas???

Hi All:

I've been thinking (of course, my wife says I'm dangerous when I do :-) ...

In the current issue of FSM, there are 2 photos from a previous article, showing the use of tempera paints as a wash on panel lines (in this case, a P-51) ...

If one were to do that before the color coats, would that provide the same effect as pre-shading ? ... if so, wouldn't that be much easier to do than using your airbrush, changing the pressure you normally shoot with and hope that you've steady hands ? ...

Pepper: Looking sharp! I assume she's going to be NM?

'Weapons of Mass Distraction'

Thank you ... yes, NM she'll be ... was going to shoot it today, but the weather has gone from a nice 75F yesterday to a not-so-nice 45F today with a cold wind blowing and mist falling ... boo, sez me ...

Love your quote above - think I'm gonna make up a sign to place over my workbench using your phrase :-) ...

I am calling this one done.  I tried a few new things on this build like using poster tack for masking the windows.  I wasn't too happy with the result.  I figured it would be easier than trying to mask all the windows seperately because the were a little curvey, not that it's a bad thing...Big Smile  The worst was the frames on the windshield.  Not to clean of a line.  I tried to straighten them up by scraping off some paint with a toothpick.  It helped a little bit.

Thanks.  Sorry I have been kinda out of the loop there for a while.  I hope to add another build to this GB if I can.  I got a little GB happy and signed up for a lot.  I will keep you posted and still follow the progess on here.  Keep up the good work everyone.

Very nice MA! I think the finish came out nicely! I do hope that Revell re issues their 48th scale kit of this bird and the H-34. Those Sikorsky's have classic lines like the Huey.

I did some detail colors in the cockpit of my Saber yesterday and applied a burnt umber was this morning.

She's looking good macattack, never tried blutack for masking, I've recently switched off masking tape and onto parafilm, I'm getting some nice results with it. It doesn't leave any residue, and if you dont stretch it too much paint and varnish won't soak through. You do need a steady hand and a very sharp knife to cut it, but it means now I can glue on canopies before primer, paint and varnish. My models are looking sooo much better for that now!

Hi Dr. Win:

Do you use a # 11 blade on the parafilm ? ... my luck has been that I either cut or scratch the clear parts, but then again, I've not used parafilm - just clear tape or Tamiya yellow tape ...

Parafilm M is great stuff!!!  But you gotta trim it with a new sharp blade or it will tear a bit rough. It is ok to use for touch ups over metallic finishes or after decals have been applied and sealed in. Something you would NEVER do with any tape or liquid mask.

Thanks Stik!  Much appreciated.  I hope that the re-issue those kits too.  I agree about the classic lines to the helo's too.  Cant mistake those for anything.  May I grab a copy of the GB badge?

Thanks for the comment Dr. Win!  I have some Parafilm M actually.  I just couldnt get it to stay down while I was attempting to cut it.  Same thing with masking tape believe it or not.  I just stuffed some blutak on and pushed it to the edges of the window frames.  Went on easier but the finish wasn't as good.

I will second that on the metallic finishes Stikpusher.  Parafilm M and Post-it notes seem to work great for small masking jobs.

Thanks Gamera.  They are too awful bad I guess.  Better then the way they would have looked if I had painted the frames.

Great looking Marine bird!

Can I ask where you got the decals? I have the H-34 Italeri kit with USMC Decals and the H-19 kit with USAF rescue decals. Looking for USMC decals for the H-19. Thanks!

Thanks Tonka!  Those are actually the kit decals.  They worked pretty good too.  The box art doesn't show that scheme on the front but they are in there.

Sorry about the long delay between updates but me and this M26 have come to a resolution, that being COMPLETE (finally)

I may go back and revisit the weathering on the tracks, doesn't look right to me, and just remembered I need to paint the headlights as well, but otherwise I'm happy with it. I went for a little damage and plenty of sand/dust to suit much of the enviroment of Korea.

Subject is a US Marine, 1st Tank Battalion, Korea 1950 vehicle (Doesn't designate any particular area).
