Looks like a few of you have a good start goin'. Railfan, good to see you in another build, you certainly have a lot going on.

I haven't started yet, I've got my hands busy in another group build at the moment. But I'm sure I'll have an open window of opportunity soon as paint and glue dries on other projects...

It seems as if I'm running into many familiar faces in different threds, Oddman. With all honesty, I don't have a lot going on (unless you count every stored 1/2 built kit as active building)

I can't wait to see what you do for this one. With your P-47 and A-4 in the other build, I think your wntry for this build will be a great finished product.

Now, I just need to get the paint (and curage) to paint this whole LAV-AT top to bottom with an airbrush (I've never used my airbrush for anything other than wethering, and I just use artists acryllics from WAL-MART with wethering)

I'll post photos when I get more progess past "raw unpainted tan plastic" Hmm, the more I look at it, the LAV-AT  seems to be missing something. Mabe I out to scratch-build something for it.....

Well, you could scratch build the whole interior

Or could add antennas, bags, boxes, oil/water cans, spare tire and the like so it looks less naked.

Nope, can't do the interior. I super-glued the shells together, now they are as solid as a rock.

I will make some boxes and crates and other stuff for the exterior. Now that you mention it, the vehicle looks like it's just rolled off the production line, never ben used.

Yep, aentennas boxes oil/water cans, mabe a spare tire or two, and mabe a simple bag or something.

I've got them built more or less. I'm not planning on building them yet, because i have a long list of figures to complete first. Stay tuned!

Yes, that be true. Any aircraft can be armed with an un-guided (dumb) bomb, or a laser-guided (Smart) bomb, as well as almost any other kind of Air-to-Ground wepon (like NAPALM or CBU dispensers) and all of those can take a tank out.

Not to mention, a tank puts out a lot of heat, so it can be like waving a huge "SHOOT ME" sign for a heat-seaking missle (like the AIM-9)

So, in all reality, any aircraft can be a "Tank buster" no matter what it's load-out is.

Although the AIM-9 is an air-to-air weapon. I doubt it can seriously damage a tank and I don't know if it can be shot at it.... but don't tell that to the guys who make Ace Combat or thay may change an otherwise great game series, lol.

Well, to give you food for thought, here's my opinion on it. Heat-seeking missles, regardless of air-to-air or air-to-ground capabilities, will do what they are implied to do: seek out a source of heat greater than the surounding air/ ground terain.

So, the way I see it, if an AIM-9 was to detect the heat of a tank, it would lock-on, and go strait for the engine. Yes, it may not be enough explosives to destroy the tank in a huge fire-ball explosion, but an AIM-9's shrapnel-explosion charicteristics (that make it a good Air-to-Air wepon) may be able to do enough damage to the tracks, or penitrate into the engine compartment to cause damage in there, to disable a tank.

That's my on the matter. I could be wrong, but it makes sence

Though I've heard examples of aircraft destroying ground targets with sidewinders based on the heat signature of the tank or truck, I couldn't find any specific examples. I'm not familiar with the missile in its entirety so I'm not sure if there are restrictions in targeting objects based on altitude, movement, speed, etc. If there are, I can see how destroying a tank would be very difficult to do.
Despite whether or not it is possible, I don't think using an AIM-9 to destroy or disable a ground target is practical given that the missile is a resource for the pilots own defense/offense. Expending one on a ground target would seem rather imprudent to me, barring some extenuating circumstances. Therefore calling any aircraft capable of carrying an AIM-9 a tank buster is not, in my opinion, very realistic.

Never the less, the new AIM-9X in development is suppose to be able to change roles at the flip of a switch. When put into action, the 9X will be able to target both air and ground enemies.

Sorry for the horrible pic, had to use the back-up camera. The interior of my M10 is in, basic paint done, and hull top started. Lots of other stuff going on, not much modeling time......

I decided to use Tasca tracks, saving the Dragon DS parts for another Sherman.

A little more paint in the interior......and a little better pic.  This one is going along at my usual glacially slow pace. Oh well.

This thread needs some attention, so I'll add a little something to it! Good work so far Rbae, very nice interior!

As for me, I've started working on my figures. Here is the kit...

They look a little more like something out of a George A. Romero film so far, but I'm hoping they shape up a little better once I get going. I've not built figures in over 4 years so I gotta relearn this stuff!

Good job guys. I am in a bit of a sticky situation, old man winter paid a visit to montreal and now what was supposed to be a 3 day dry was a week long dry. But dont mind it i set up a new table in my room where it is "warmer" so results coming soon. As long as the weather is good
